CannonShooter (Cannoneer / Cannon Master) is one of MapleStory Special Adventurer who uses Cannon aided with by a Monkey companion. Cannoneer primary stat is STR (strength). Cannoneer skills is a mix breed of Mechanic and Pirate, therefore you can see some skills are alike disguise in vivid animations.
Cannoneer Beginner Skill Build: Everything maxed.
Explanation:
All the skills above are special traits that only belongs to Cannoneer. No SP is required to be channeled into any of the skills above.
Monkey Push / Monkey Boost
Use while in the middle of a jump to jump even further. The jumping distance increases as the skill level increases.
Level 1: MP Cost: 18, jumps further
Level 5: MP Cost: 10, jumps further
Monkey Push skill is not available in both MSEA but it exists in KMS. MSEA will need to wait for another future skill revamp for Cannoneer. Therefore, for Cannoneer 1st Job Skill Build Guide, can safely ignore Monkey Push.
Explanation:
Cannon Blaster will be your primary 1st job training skill. First, max Monkey Push to allow faster traveling between towns and to quickly reach monsters. Max Cannon Boost to have a better base damage before proceeding with maxing Cannon Blaster. Once these 2 skills are at their full potential, max Blast Back (which can be used as a teleporting skill while traveling) and dump the other remaining Skill Points (SP) into Cannon Strike. Cannon Strike is not effective against cluster of weak monsters, better go with Cannon Blaster from the start.
Explanation:
Cannon Spike will be your primary attacking skill for training and bossing. However, remember to cap Cannon Spike to 19/20 skill points so you have sufficient skill point to max both Monkey Wave and Cannon Jump. There are some debates going over with Monkey Wave vs Cannon Jump. Both are actually useful for damage and mobility. Monkey Wave grants bonus Critical Rate which allows you to have higher chance of dealing critical damage against your enemies whereas higher skill level of Cannon Jump increases your jump height, making it easier to reach high level platform with ease and to navigate/cycle hard-to-travel maps for training or can be used to travel long distance maps should you not have any access to VIP Teleport Rock.
Anchors Aweigh (Supportive)
Places an anchor that creates a strong magnetic field. The magnetic field pulls enemies toward it. When the anchor disappears, it explodes, dealing critical damage to all nearby enemies.
Level 1: MP Cost: 62, Summon Duration: 6 sec. Pulls the enemy forward while dealing 264% damage at fixed intervals. When duration has run out, will explode to deal 415% additional damage
Level 20: MP Cost: 86, Summon Duration: 20 sec. Pulls the enemy forward while dealing 460% damage at fixed intervals. When duration has run out, will explode to deal 625% additional damage
Explanation:
The skills mentioned in skill build should be maxed in sequence for effective leveling speed. Cannon Bazooka is a great mobbing attack while Cannon Barrage is used for single target high damage attack. Before maxing these 2 primary skills for 4th job, boost your damage with Cannon Overload and get extra buff from Double Down. The rest of the skills can be any order though. Nautilus Strike is maxed last since you spamming it is kinda costly and has a huge cooldown.
Big Huge Gigantic Cannonball
Fire a gigantic cannonball. When attacking enemies using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage.
Level 1: Consumes 500 MP. Shoot a giant cannon ball that deals 465% damage 4 times on up to 15 enemies continuously. You prepare 1 cannonball every 15 seconds and can hold up to 3 at a time. Cooldown: 3 seconds.
Level 25: Consumes 500 MP. Shoot a giant cannon ball that deals 825% damage 4 times on up to 15 enemies continuously. You prepare 1 cannonball every 15 seconds and can hold up to 3 at a time. Cooldown: 3 seconds.
ICBM or The Nuclear Option.
The explosion inclict 1944% damage 5 times to up 15 enemies.
create a patch of scortched earth lasting for 15 sec. inflict damage 270% up to 10 enemies.
update update ayumi senpai! ? im a cannon master on Reboot. hope i can contribute alittle help on your blog hehe.
Hey great guide you have here. I just came back to maple not long ago, and now that there are so many new jobs, i just want to know in your honest opinion how strong cannoneer is as compared to the rest of the classes now ?
@ShoKnowMerci: Purchase a SP (Skill Point) Reset coupon from Cash Shop to reset the skill. This requires using real money. The free alternative method is to recreate this character from scratch, which definitely will take some time to level up. If you do not have much time to spend, you may want to consider using the paid method.
Hi ayumi! Thank you so much for making these I use them all the time, but it seems like the names, and levels of your hyper skills. (not sure if its all of them) are incorrect. THe only one i am sure on is the enhance I know that is 143. Thanks!
@Sovoer: Add 1 SP (Skill Point) to unlock those skills first before proceeding to max the important skills. If you lack 1 SP from Job Advancement, level up and add 1 SP to the other skill which you have not added yet. Add 1 SP SP into active skills first (Cannon Bazooka, Cannon Barrage, Anchors Aweigh) to help you with your training style then passive (Cannon Overload).
@Kenny: It seems that GMS and MSEA did not obtain the latest skill changes from KMS which includes the Monkey Push skill. We will need to wait for another skill revamp on Cannon Master 1st Job Skills.
@Miranda: Monkey Push is not available for both MSEA and GMS for now, but there are available in KMS. Will need to wait for another future revamp for Cannoneer. Without Monkey Push, this class is awfully slow ?
Ayumi, why is it that when i change from my Viper to a Cannon Master, i found out that there is no monkey push is my 1st job skill tab, is this a bug? Or could it be that only those who started with Cannon Master from 1st job onwards will only have it?
Hi JamesLe, Cannoneers have a more difficult time to train due to their mobility in nature. They have slow attack + unable to move around fast (I have 1 personally), and all this hinders the job to train effectively. Try checking the monster to train guide at -maplestory-unleashed-unlimited-training-spots-level-1-to-250-guide/
Sorry for not continue writing but I also find myself using canon jump more often than monkey wave but after the 4th job the cannon barrage skill also adds critical rate for that skill only so if u use cannon barrage the critical rate is 60% if I am not wrong.
Hi Novakaiser, it depends on your gamestyle. Do you find yourself using Monkey Wave more often than Cannon Jump? If yes, then put SP (Skill Points) into maxing Monkey Wave, otherwise max Cannon Jump instead. For my training and bossing, not even once Monkey Wave is used because the delay is awfully longer which I could dish 2-3 primary attacking skills against an opponent(s).
Hi ayumi-chan, pau here again. Noticed ur cannon guide 3rd job says dun max jump.. but now since it is only 5.. why not max it and leave Monkey Wave unmaxed. did this cos wave is slow to come out.. I maxed spike and jump and left out wave. So far.. no regrets.. what do you think?
Hi Kelvin Wong, it is the same as the regular 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Job Skills. However, hyper skills are unlocked at a certain level. Therefore, some are grayed. Check out the hyper skill guide on this site to find out whats the minimum level it gets unlocked.
Hi Nero, both are equally strong. What I dislike about Aran is spamming the attack button instead of just holding down. This is similar to Demon Slayer attack, which requires you to tap few times to get into different stages of slashing. Cannoneer is just plain simple, tap the skill button once and it dishes a powerful damage. However, the damage dished out is not as strong as a Mechanic, although its a little powerful compared to a Mercedes. In maneuverability aspects, both Aran and Cannoneer is weak compared to other legendary or special explorer/adventurer classes. In short, I can say both jobs are mediocre.
Hi BananaPhone, Wind Archer followed by Dawn Warrior, Thunder Breaker, Blaze Wizard and Night Walker in terms of damage. But their leveling speed differs between jobs though since some job gets AOE (Area of effect) skills faster.
I noticed it seems like an explorer where points form job 1 can go into job 2, so then putting no points into the boxing glove might be more optimal? I wonder if it goes the same into 3rd and 4th job .-.
Both Mercedes and Cannon Shooter are about higher than average. On the other hand, Mechanic are much more stronger even though you are not equipped with godly equipment since the passive skill add bulk of the damage.
You can dump all SP (skill points) into STR (Strength) provided that you have enough DEX (Dexterity) to wield armor/weapon. If you are funded (rich), you can purchase scrolled equips that already has DEX and you can safely add the SP into STR, otherwise, you will be missing a lot when you try to hit enemies above your level, especially bosses.
