First off, as long as you had an accurate analysis, your season never changes. You are a Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. What changes when you change your hair, is how you wear your colors and which colors within your season (or sub-season) are best for you. If your hair change is so drastic that the colors in your season no longer work for you, then you might want to consider whether that change was one you should have made. Just saying!

Hi, everyone. I have a 17 yr old daughter with Addison's. We just moved and are getting to know a new endo who is considering reversing her diagnosis. One of the things she questions is the use of hair color change as a symptom. My daughter has never shown signs of hyper pigmentation in the mouth or other places they look for it. But her normal light brown hair began to grow in red at her temples. Her old endo saw this as the same as hyper pigmentation but her new endo says she never heard of doing so. \n
Her new Endo is thinking of changing her diagnosis. As much as I would love my daughter to not have Addison's, it's a little scary. I'm trying to remember all of her original symptoms. And I'm not looking forward to trying to figure out if it's not Addison's then what is it?
I'd love for her not to have Addisons too, but from a practical standpoint, the new dr would have to present me with clear cut evidence as to why they want to nix the dx. Are cortisol tests normal without meds? New Stim tests with negative results?
I know this is post is older but I am new to the forum and kind of just reading around, and saw this, and wanted to tell you it might be the Hashimoto's, actually; all my life before proper treatment my hair spontaneously changed color periodically (toward red/auburn) and several older hairstylists/beauticians over the years told me it's a sign of thyroid disease. Old wive's tale maybe but these women recognised it before drs did, and they were right. I have primary Addison's too, from pre abx scarlet fever, so maybe that was also a factor (?)
Btw a late friend of mine who also had pre abx scarlet fever at age 16, it caused all her always golden blonde hair to fall out, and when her hair grew in it was black, and stayed black the rest of her life.

I am using arnold with xgen and am trying to figure out how to change the colors of the hairs in the viewport (the primitives not the groom), they are very washed out whitish and I need to darken them. Im not sure where it gets its color information from, changing the arnold shader doesnt affect it, and neither does the Xgen hair shader. Thanks in advance for any help!
Thank you for the help guys, It looks like they must have updated Arnold because after digging around I did find the area that handles the hardware shading, it was under the Extra Attributes rollout of the aiHair shader.
Before I started, I couldn't have imagined how many times I would need to change the color of things in my commercial photography. I thought that I would just get the right model, props, clothes, and so on, and that would be that. This was naive. In actuality, I have often had to shoot without every color in the frame perfect, and then change it in post.
If you'd asked me ten years ago, I would have doubled down my position on not needing to change colors when it comes to hair. Then, I had a brief land in my inbox which wanted a specific type of portrait and I had an image already shot that would be a great fit. There were two issues, however: firstly, they wanted it in the snow and I shot it in high summer. This was easily fixed as the image had a shallow depth of field, so I just made some color tweaks and then added some blurry snowflakes. Secondly, they wanted a redhead and my model was blonde. Again, I fixed it with some color editing and the image was suddenly exactly what they were after.

There are two types of melanin: eumelanin and pheomelanin. We all have genes to produce both pigments. The amount of eumelanin pigment determines how dark our hair is. The amount of pheomelanin pigment determines how red our hair is.
Genes are the instruction manuals for cells, and just like anything else our cells can do, there are genes that have the instructions for making melanin. All cells in your body have the gene for melanin. But not all cells are using this instruction manual!
Changes in hair color in kids and teenagers are most likely due to changing hormones. Hormones are chemical signals that the body uses to send messages between body parts. Changes in hormone levels can cause pigment genes to be turned on or turned off.
Some animals change their hair color twice a year! Snowshoe hares are pure white in the winter, which helps them hide in the snow. But in the summer, they switch to a darker coat. This means they are camouflaged all year.
These seasonal changes are also regulated by hormones. Shorter days stimulate more production of a particular hormone, and causes winter coat colors. Longer days lead to less of the hormone, and causes summer coat colors.
Have you ever spent the entire summer in the pool and have your hair turn green? This is from the chlorine in the pool water. Chlorine is also a very reactive chemical and will react with the copper pipes that flow water in and out of the pool. Chlorine is so reactive that it will dissolve some of that copper into the pool water. When that copper gets on your hair your hair will turn green!

For the first time I made hair for my character. The hair grew out green, like his skin. I tried to change the color in the materials window, and although the skin under the hair changed color, the hair did not. How can I change the hair color?
It may be difficult if the hair you are wearing in no modify - which it probably is not. You may need to select a different hair piece to change color - that brings us to your second question, click on your avatar and then click on edit appearance - you will be able to modify many of your body parts/shape by using the sliders provided for each. If you have any follow up questions you can use the comment to post.
Most hair styles are prim attachments (sort of like a wig) so you can just find a different one and change it. There are a few in the Library section of your Inventory if you look in the clothes folder. You will find all the other "new" avatars and each one will have a different hair attachment.
You can also search for "free hair" and you will likely find lots of places offering freebies & seach for hair on the marketplace too. As with everything in SL, there are bargains to be found if you make use of the searches & do some exploring.
As for changing the rest of your looks, your body has a "shape" which you can change to suit yourself in "edit appearance" by right clicking your avatar. Or you can buy pre-made shapes if you aren`t feeling patient or creative hehe
You also have a "skin" which is the texture painted on to your shape & again you will find an endless supply of those at all sorts of prices (including free) if you look around inworld & check the marketplace.
to change your hair color and style when starting out it's best to visit a few freebies places. If you type in "freebies" into search a lot of places should show up. They have anything from hair to clothes and anything else you could possibly imagine.
For altering your shape, if you right click on your avatar and choose edit appearance, a box will come up that will allow you to change different parts of your avatar. You can use this to customize the size and shape of your avi or you can get a freebie shape from one of the freebie places when you are out looking for hair and other accessories for your avatar.
