The Bibb County Sheriff Deputies arrested a Macon man after he was spotted firing a handgun from the inside a car, then leading deputies on a chase.It happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday on Evergreen Drive, near Hightower Road in Macon.According to a press release by the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Artez Maloy, of Macon, was firing a handgun from inside a maroon Ford Crown Victoria. Maloy drove away as deputies approached the car.Maloy led deputies on a pursuit that started at Houston Avenue, through several side streets to Broadway, through the Industrial Park area, and north on Hawkinsville Road. He abandoned the car between two buildings, just off Houston Avenue and Richmond Street and took off on foot. He later turned himself over to Sheriff's Patrol Deputies at the District 2 Office. No one was injured during this incident.Maloy is charged with Reckless Conduct, Reckless Driving and Felony Fleeing and Eluding of Peace Officer. He also had unrelated warrants for the charges of Theft by Conversion and Child Cruelty in the 1st Degree. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office also has a warrant for Maloy's arrest, from an unrelated incident. Maloy is being held on $17,400.00 bond at the Bibb County Jail.
