Call for Papers for a Special Issue on
Emergence of Macro Phenomena from Interactions among Zero-Intelligence and Minimal-Intelligence Agents
Editors of the JEIC invite submissions of scholarly papers for a special issue of the journal on Emergence of Macro Phenomena from Interactions among Zero- and Minimal-Intelligence Agents to be published in 2022. The subject matter covers all explorations of systems populated with zero- and minimally-intelligent agents in a broad spectrum of disciplines. Over the past three decades, exploration of socio-economic, engineering, computational and financial systems using the zero-intelligence agents approach has seeped into many disciplines and generated much interdisciplinary research with new ideas, concepts, and tools. Using such minimalist approaches to modeling the interactions of micro-level units in order to identify and understand the emergent properties of aggregate level systems appeals to a wide range of scholars from philosophy, sociology, economics, psychology, computer science, and various fields of business management such as finance and accounting. This intellectual enthusiasm and ferment was manifested at the first conference on ZIMI Agents hosted at Yale in October 2020.
This JEIC special issue is intended as the first multidisciplinary collection of scholarship in this field. Manuscripts will be accepted until June 20, and decisions will be made by December 31, 2021. The submitted papers will be reviewed under JEIC’s independent review process before editorial decision on acceptance and publication. The ideas and work presented at the First Conference Zero- and Minimal-Intelligence Agents (see website ziconference.net) can provide an approximate initial idea of the range of works that may be appropriate for this special issue. The editors will also consider submissions within the larger scope of JEIC scholarship.
