Overnight Kathy's heart rate stabilized at an acceptable level. They were able to wean her off some of the meds that they thought might be affecting it. Her other vital signs are stable and within normal range. She went through the day without incident, although she had a small additional brain bleed early in the morning. That seems to have stabilized as well.
She was more heavily sedated today and so not alert or responsive. This was done to minimize the brain bleed and because she had a series of scans – brain, lungs, pelvis – and procedures so they did not want her moving around.
Based on all the tests and depending on her vitals they hope to operate on her pelvis tomorrow or Sunday. It is a very complicated and high risk surgery.
On a personal note, it has been a long time since I have been able to raise a girl's blood pressure from 108 to 140 by whispering in her ear, but it happened yesterday.
