25th ZeeQaad - Dahwul Ardh (Spread of the Earth) As Salam o alaikum, 25th of ZeeQaad - Dahwul Ardh - Spread of the Earth (The Islamic Earth Day) Significance According to a tradition of the Holy Prophet(sawaw) reported by one of his Sahabi - Abdullah bin Mas'ud(ra), Dahwul Ardh is the day when the earth was spread for the advantage of human beings. The phrase "Dahwul Ardh" literally means "The spread of the Earth". In another tradition it is reported that the first Rahmah & blessing descended on this very day. According to another tradition, it is the day when the earth was spread on water where the Kaaba is now situated (Allah knows best). It is reported on the authority of Imam Ali Riza(as) that two important prophets namely Hazrat Ibrahim(as) and Hazrat Isa(as) were born on this day. The Almighty Allah(swt), in Surat an-Nazi'aat 79:30 - 33, speaks about 'dahwul ardh': “And the earth, He expanded it after that. He brought forth from it its water and its pasturage. And the mountains, He made them firm. A provision for you and for your cattle. Special Aamal This night is highly blessed and therefore, special aamal have been prescribed for this day/night as follows: 1) Observe fast in the day After the salaam recite: LA HAWL WA LA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAHIL ALIYIL AZEEM 4) There is a special dua to be recited which is available at http://www.ziaraat.com/events/dahwulardh/dahwulardh.php 5) Ziarat of Imam Ali Riza(as) is also highly recommended to be recited today.
