1st Thursday night (Shab-e-Juma) of Rajab - Lailatur Raghaib

As Salam o alaikum,

The first thursday night (Shab-e-Juma) of the month of Rajab, is called Lailatur Raghaib لَيْلَةُ الرَّغَائِبْ . It is narrated by Ibn Tawoos, Allama Hilli, Syed and Allama Majlisi that according to the Prophet(sawaw) there is an amal to be performed in this night which carries huge bounties and rewards.

Significance and rewards

One of the thawab of this amal is that many sins are forgiven, and also anyone who performs it, on the first night in his grave Allah(swt) will send down the reward of this prayer in the form of a person with a beautiful and very bright face, who will give that deceased glad tidings that Allah(swt) has given him security (Panah - Amaan) from all hardship and sorrows of the grave.

When asked by the deceased “Who are you? Indeed I have never seen such a beautiful face like yours, nor did I ever smelt such fragrance and heard any one speak so softly and sweetly”, the person will reply: “I am the prayer and sawab of the amal that you had performed on such year at such place and on such and such night. I have come to give you company in your loneliness and to remove your fear; Be lest assured that my shelter will be with you when the horn will be blown on the Day of Judgment.. So be happy and satisfied for you shall never be deprived of goodness ”. (Mafateehul Jinaan, Page 281, Urdu Edition)

Method of prayer

Start observing fast on the first Thursday of the month of Rajab and between the prayers of Maghrib and Isha pray 12 rakat namaz divided in to two rakat each (6 sets).

In each rakat recite
One time Sura Al-Hamd
Three times Sura Qadr اِناَّاَنْزَلْناَ and
Twelve times Sura Tawheed

After completing the Namaz recite 70 times:
اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ اللأُمِّيِّ وَ عَلَى آلِهِ
Allahumma Salle ala Muhammadin Nabiyyil Ummi wa ala aalehi
O Allah send blessings on Muhammad, the Ummi Prophet, and on his descendants.

Then go to Sajdah and recite 70 times in Sajdah:
سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلاَءِكَةِ وَ الرُّوحِ
Subbuhun Quddusun Rabbul mala-ikati war roohi
Holy and most Holy is the Lord of the Angels and spirits.

Then sit erect from Sajdah and recite 70 times:
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَتَجَاوَزْ عَمَّا تَعْلَمْ إِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَلِيُّ الأَعْظَمُ
Rab-bighfir warham wa tajawaz a’mma ta’lam innaka antal a’liyul a’azamu
O Lord! Forgive, have mercy and be indulgent about that which Thou knows well, verily Thou art Sublime, Mighty.

Finally, go to Sajdah again and recite 70 times in Sajdah:
سُبُّوْحٌ قُدُّوسٌ رَبُّ الْمَلاَءِكَةِ وَ الرُّوحِ
Subbuhun Quddusun Rabbul mala-ikati war roohi
Holy and most Holy is the Lord of the Angels and spirits.

Then ask your hajaat, Inshallah will be fulfilled.
(Please do remember me and my family in your duas)
