Board Member in 2 Societies simolyaneously

Hello All,

As this topic was brought up, I will mention it here. I have not seen it personally, but Avanti said that it is in ZGAS' Constitution, that a Board Member is not allowed to be a Board Member in another society simultaneously as it does not allow for them to be fully dedicated to ZGAS. If somebody has seen it in the constitution, feel free to let others know.

This will obviously have to be a decision that the incoming Board decides on given the candidates and Society's requirements.

Again it's my personal opinion. But I strongly recommend you choose one of the role being focus on. I believe we all want our members to dedicate the most and strive together to make ZGAS the best.

Hello all,

 

I’m aware of the this rule because it was brought up to me before. I agree it should be addressed clearly to candidates in the future.

 

However, I want to reiterate that I have told the President of ZGTS that I’m stepping down from VP of Marketing, as I wrote in my previous two emails about running for a VP position in ZGAS, in case anyone haven’t got a chance to read them.

 

Yesterday Tax Society had the last meeting of this semester and me stepping down has become official. So there is no violation of ZGAS’ Constitution in my case. Just want to clarify that I am not running VP of Marketing while remain on Board of Tax Society as VP of Marketing.

I would like to clarify how society is defined?  For the Spring I was going to be a VP of Ops for the Sustainable Business Club which does not interfere with my duties or affect my dedication to ZGAS as its a smaller club with only one major event per semester and very few smaller events.  

If we can discuss this on Tuesday that would be great as I would have to let sbc know if there is a conflict.

Hi there :)

Since everyone is wandering ... please see attached ZGAS Constitution ... 

As per our constitution the only restriction regarding being an officer on multiple club board is, quote: "No one can serve as the President of one organization while simultaneously serving as Treasurer of another, nor can anyone serve as President of more than one organization."

No more restrictions are there in the Constitution, or that I ever heard of them.

 So, bottom line:

1) its legal

2) it makes perfect sense. I truly believe that one person ability to add value to our club can not be evaluated or restricted based on number of clubs the person is a part of, its about the impact and effort. 

Enjoy the reading! Highly recommend, in the best interest of ZGAS, especially as the elections are coming soon.

By the way, the Constitution is on Dropbox (Dropbox/ Admin&Documentation/ Administrative Procedures & Documentation) and it always has been there :)

ZGAS members,

It is important that everyone submit their reimbursement forms to me by next week.  Ideally, you can hand it to me on Tuesday during the elections.  Then I can also have Michael sign the forms so it can be processed immediately.  I would like to submit everything before finals.
