Trouble Installing XQuartz 2.7.4

I'm trying to update XQuartz to 2.7.4 (from 2.7.3), and the installer
died at shove. Attached is the log.
I've had /opt on ZFS since... ever... and it's never had this
problem. Has anyone else had this problem before? Normally my problems
with Installer.app involve low disk space on the filesystem /tmp is
mounted on, but this is new.
(I post here because the log mentions cross-filesystem
symlinks... which makes no sense, but hey! neither does not being able
to override the install path.)
