Another ****** Zetmeet
David Jackson
Following overwhelming demands from somebody at the Birmingham
Zetmeet I have consulted the manijmunt (Steve W.) and we feel that we
could perhaps cope with organising _another_ Runcorn Zetmeet at Easter!
Is there any support out there in Zetnutland for such a proposal? If
the answer to that question is "Yes!", the next question is "How much
support?" Do we hold it at the Preston Brook as last year, or in our
back porch? Or do we need to find a bigger venue still? With a
stage for JG to sing? (No Karen, JG's Jag wouldn't be big enough anyway!!)
Can you let us have some idea of how many are likely to want to come
so that we can get our act together before Christmas sets in . . .

Although I liked the Preston Brook, it's in the right place
convienent, I didn't like having to cart drinks over to that room,
the bar appeared to be a long way off.

I would love JG to entertain and sing, can anyone else do anything
too? Cabaret at a Zetmeet, now that would be a great first, wouldn't it?

I have been known to sing a song or two and do a duet with Rebecca

I've just had a busy time with rehearsals then two nights performing
with the Shetland Pop <in inverted commas <g>> Choir in our Town
Hall, followed by party where most of the band turned up and played

I never said we had to have a Karaoke tape on. And you haven't been
to one of my elder brothers Karaoke's . Especially when my
younger brother sings, as he is in a band.

At a Christmas gathering my cousin sang a Madonna song into the
karoke and my sister in law just looked puzzled. After a while she
said, I can't hear Emma, just Madonna. But Madonna wasn't singing it
was all Emma. She was brilliant, but then she is the lead singer in a

Thank you Adrian. I've just spread a mountain of junk over the
utility room floor in order to get to my converter. There is no plate
on it so I don't know who made it. The casting is rather reminiscent
of a Joseph Lucas magneto, though.
The NiCad cells were supplied to HM Govt. by a maker to me unknown,
for use by the Royal Air Force. After passing through the hands of a
Govt. surplus dealer, they fell into my clutches. Some of them have
been removed from their crates and are connected via a complicated
system of switches of my own devising. This allows me to link to
several different voltages without bolting in links. It also allows
me to run one set while another is charging, and with yet another as
a charged standby.
You have to understand that I don't go out and buy some vastly
overpriced proprietary unit if I can get something better (if not so
pretty) for a fraction of the price. 15 amp/hr 6v (reconditioned)
units cost me Ł10 a go. I've had a tranny running off one for nearly
two years - on one charging! True, I don't use it a lot, but the
accumulator's stayed up. The rotary converter built into its
amplifier cost me nothing. I can never resist a good skip!

Me neither.
AT one site I worked at I was loath to leave. So much good stuff
was placed in the skip. Had to vacate it very quickly one day though - I
heard the "beep", "beep", "beep" reversing sounds of the wagon that had
come to empty it!

Very useful for getting mains voltage out of a car battery. Not much
power though. Used to be popular on the surplus market during the 50's.
