Whilst the posts here are viewable from 'outside', people outside
can't post into here. Apparently, Fifi's big brother tried it
without success. I also noticed, with some surprise, that on
dejanews there were a couple of replies to a post I'd made in .help
in early '97! Couldn't see my original post, though..

But why have they now become viewable from outside again? I just
happened on it when I was looking for something else, and suddenly
realised that there were several posts from z.l listed, from zetnet
accounts. I searched specifically for z.l and found that it suddenly
became listed around the beginning of November. Before that there
are only the posts to the "other" zetnet.local, from people who
aren't zetnet subscribers. Some change must have been made, but
where and when? A friend with clara.net mentioned a couple of weeks
ago that it was available to them, although as you say it appears
they can't post. Why would an ISP list a group to which its
subscribers can't post?

Actually, this NG is world famous for being at the cutting edge
of......well, Newsgrouping. So we (the happy band of recent lurkers :-)))))
are here in great strength to add to your Xmas cheer and sample the
atmosphere of your much acclaimed .local
There also be rumours that one of Zetnets most celebrated Turkeys may be
coming home to roost. It will be interesting to see how it fares with
Christmas looming....is that knives I can hear being sharpened in the
darkness? :-(((

I don't know. However, I recall a while ago a friend (then on Demon;
he's one of the people who lives off the free account offers <g>)
telling me that he could view .help, and went on to tell me about one
of my posts I'd made there. I raised the question to zetnet, but as
I recall, the only response was 'that shouldn't happen' (or similar).
I've just asked it in zetnet.support, in the hope that someone at
zet will actually post there - or perhaps, with TimC lurking in here,
he'll respond...

When my brother mentioned about getting z.local I said it must be the
"other" one as you mention, Linda - but no, he said he was getting
current messages and forwarded some of mine to me to show me!!

Goodness knows - my bruv's with Freeserve so, according to Adrain's
figures for subscribers, there could be a *helluva* lot of people
