In similar vein, Many years ago (50's) my grandmother - in her 70's -
had been ill for some time and had not been out of the house for some
4 years. During this time Coventry had been undergoing major
re-building after the devastation of the war and the main centre had
a new precinct.
When I went to see her after her first time out after recovery and
she was very excited to tell me that she had been 'over the precipice'!

I was in a supermarket once and heard a lady called to her friend

I also had a lady explaining to me that she was having problems with

Also some woman had to have a "spherical smear".
We have a bit of a family joke to refer to casseroles as carousels
and I get funny looks sometimes when I forget and say it in front of
people who don't know. The well mannered ones ignore it and the
others point it out, so I have to explain which is difficult, because
I can't really remember why it started.

If it's "personal" controlled time then you can contract out of it
(legally). I am inherently contracted out of it, being self-employed.
If I complained to my boss about it (me) I could probably sue myself.
