Strong evidence points towards a prior intallation of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware v1.75.0.1300 (or earlier) Trial edition, as witnessed by the apostrophe character following the corporate name in that registry key.

I know it is an old version but for my purposes on a XP virtual machine and a Win7 system with limited speed/memory Malwarebytes v1.75.0.1300 is ideal. The definitions have updated without issue until now.

AstroSkipper, what program did you use to post your images of Malwarebytes v1.75.0.1300 or any quick easy to use product to make an image that anyone might be using for Win XP. Sorry for taking this slightly of topic. I see that your images are still visible whether a person is logged in or not.

AstroSkipper - Nice presentation of the three versions of Malwarebytes v1.75.0.1300 ... really great images also. Kind of interested to try the Pro version again, might like having it on the computer.

Well good news or bad news ... over at the Malwarebytes forum dealing with v1.75.0.1300 ... someone is reporting about all this here at MSFN and v1.75.0.1300 able to get updates again. Nothing has been posted there for three years until 4 hours ago.

I wonder where all this will be going. The poster uses the term 'A couple of Windows XP diehards at the MSFN forum (their last stronghold)' ... doesn't sound too friendly. I hope doors won't be kicked in as these 'last Windows XP diehards' are hunted down and their computers are destroyed with sledge hammers. We shall see and I hope they won't stop future updates for v1.75.0.1300.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, is a slim, fast, stable and well-liked anti-malware application. I wanted to verify that MBAM is still working soundly on Windows XP and audited the process of install and execution. NOTE: ther have been no rumors or announcements or anything like that to worry about, and they still list Windows XP on their site, this is pure research spawned by discussions in other threads here. No worries. Cutting to the chase I'm happy to report that all is still fine. : There are a few very minor issues however for the new or casual user to be aware of, documented below.

At the MBAM Website the latest version as of January 4, 2014 is v1.75.0.1300 ( file is literally: mbam-setup-1.75.0.1300.exe ). First thing to note is that website has a few software offerings, and the top two selections on the page look like this ...

2. No, I run ESET Endpoint AV v5.0.2144.4 on 2 clients, v6.0.316.on my 'TEST' client, and ESWS v4.5.12011.0 on my server. These choices run real-time 24/7. On 2 clients I use Malware Bytes v1.75.0.1300 as an on-demand scanner. I would add that since starting ESET AV in 2006 (v2.0BE), I have lived virus free. Excellent service. I also live and die with the MVPS Hosts File.

Malwarebytes is an easy-to-use anti-malware application available in both a Free and Premium version. The Free version is well-known for its detection and removal capabilities, and the Premium version uses advanced protection technologies to proactively stop malware infections. Additionally, Malwarebytes offers a host of extra utilities as well as an approachable forum community to help you combat any piece of malware that exists in the wild.

Go to the forum before you decide to throw $39.99 a year after this.

I'm a longtime big fan of Malwarebytes, have premium on all my computers, but this V3 has to be the worst they ever made.

It had bugs to begin with, then they managed to minimize them, but now it's a big pile of crap.

So many issues, you would think they have fired the developers and hired a bunch of monkeys for the job.

$39.99 a year to betatest a broken mess, go find a better and working solution.

One of my license is a lifetime license, I'll keep that to see if they ever get this mess fixed, the other 3 is bought after they ended their lifetime plan, they will not be renewed, I'm done, time to find a better solution.

The BEST anti-malware program out there just got even better! I actually like the new GUI, and it's packed with more features. MBAM has saved me a lot of headaches in the past and is well worth the purchase.

The new UI is a bit Win 8ish but I can live with it - Big improvements throughout the program are worthwhile - Still the best anti-malware program out there - I wouldn't be surprised if there is another update shortly but kooks like most of the beta issues were sorted - Now has a 1 year 3 PC licence, so nows the time to grab any lifetime licenses around as they will be honoured for all time.

I had problems with the auto-update cycling over & over, this was quickly sorted by a full uninstall, & removing all registry entries and all folders & a reinstall.

This is by far the best anti-malware program there is. With the full program & a decent AV such as Eset ot Webroot SmartSecurity your pretty well covered. The full version can be got for in the UK 12 - Worth each & every penny.

@HeilNizar - 'All These AV's etc '- Garbage, my total start-up memory use is a shade over 700 meg. Mbam in real-time uses 5,140 k & Webroot SmartSecurity 4,472 k - Hardly a huge amount? 10 Meg or so for all my security.

Use AutoRuns & you can sort out what you want to start.

If you only ever buy one piece of anti-malware software in your life this is the one.

How you can lose information in this day & age eludes me totally - And then have the temerity blame the company!

@asaenz - I have only had time to update Malwarebytes on the main desktop PC. When I update the laptops I'll see if I have the same issues as you have, regarding sharing etc.

Edit - No issues with networking or anything else after being installed on my other PC's on my home network.I haven't heard of issues from others either who use this program.

that is very powerful tools for me, when i integrated with AVAST this tool very effective.. And like this, but the price is not friendly for me...

I Hope, malwarebytes gives promotion like not long time ago to win malwarebytes pro... hm

6 Months ago I got the windows security 2010 virus that warns repeatedly about your computer being infected and being attacked by various programs. This was obviously bogus since when I unplugged my Cat5 cable, it would still tell me that I was being attacked. I went on-line with another computer and searched for the text that I was receiving. I found Mawarebytes' free Anti-Malware program. I downloaded and put it on a memory stick. I started the infected computer in safe mode. Restored to a previous time, and then installed the Ant-Malware program to eliminate the infected files.
This time, a similar message occured. I downloaded the latest free version of Anti-Malware. Previously, I had also Resored Windows to a previous time. This time that did not work. The only previous time was the time I became infected. I am assuming that is an "enhancement" with the new virus. When I restarted Windows, I came up in Safe mode with networking. This seemed important because when I installed Anti-Malware it needed to update it's data base. The first time I didn't come up with Networking and it didn't eliminate the virus. Anyway, after installing anti-malware and running the smaller scan, it found a number (about 16) infected files. I had anti-malware remove them. Everything has been fine since.

After being infected by security tool and finding no way of getting rid of it, I searched around youtube and found a video that told me to get malwarebytes,I'd already tried spyware doctor but it wanted me to pay and that didn't help me, so I turned off my laptop booted it up in safemode after downloading malwarebytes and ran it, it cleaned everything and my computer worked again, way better than anything I've ever had, 5/5

amazing program, after my version of AVG expired i downloaded a trial version of mcafee to replace it. minutes later mcafee claimed there were over 3,000 infections on my computer. after deleting mcafee i (foolishly) wandered around the interwebs for a month or two w/o malware protection. one day i turned on my computer to a slew of infection messages from vista. i opened internet explorer (i normally use firefox, but at this particular point firefox was being blocked by my computer as an "infected program") to see if i could download something to get rid of it, but it would only take me to a microsoft warning site telling me that i had to download their extremely expensive anti-malware program.
I called my uncle who works as a contractor manually removing malware and other programs from corporate and personal computers, and he told me to get a copy of malwarebytes. so i got borrowed my brother's computer and downloaded malwarebytes onto a flash drive. i installed it on my computer and told it to start running the quick scan, then an infection message popped up for malwarebytes and was immediately closed as malwarebytes found all of the viruses (6 of them) and disabled them until the scan was complete and i told it to remove them. since then i have used it to remove various problems from not only my brother's computer (mcafee protected) but also from several of the computers at work and two of my friends' computers.

while malwarebytes may not have real-time malware protection, i still prefer it to other anti-malware programs.
in my opinion, malwarebytes is the ninja of the anti-malware world. keep up the good work, malwarebytes!
