Captain Charles Moore found 246 kilos of plastic for every kilo of zooplankton in the middle of the Pacific on his most recent trawls, up from six-to-one when he discovered the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 1997. On Wednesday, September 23 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific, Save the Albatross Coalition is showing "The Great Pacific Garbage Patch" presentation once again, timed for audiences in Australia, New Zealand, and the wider Pacific. Moore walks through how the patch hides in plain sight, why the fantasy of vacuuming it clean would take almost 80,000 years, and why the only real answer is to stop the plastic at its source.
