Good afternoon,
The County of San Diego Office of Sustainability and Environmental Justice has been working on a regional effort to develop a comprehensive assessment to guide the transition from a linear ‘take, make, waste’ economy to a regenerative circular economy, From Waste to Worth – A Circular Economy for Regional Prosperity.
Our team is now working on synthesizing ideas and strategies responsive to what we heard and are seeking to confirm these align with the region’s greatest needs and opportunities.
Help shape this effort:
- Public engagement webpage is live! Here you can find updates, post questions and comments, learn about upcoming engagement opportunities, and more.
- Public survey is available! We will be receiving responses until July 31, 2026, so be sure to submit your feedback, ideas, and priorities for our region’s circular economy by then. Survey responses will be used to inform the solutions and recommendations.
- Please circulate the engagement webpage and survey widely with your networks! We’ll follow up with social media content soon for those who are interested.
- Join us for a virtual sector-focused discussion! Calendar events are attached for those who’d like to attend. We’ll present draft strategies and receive additional feedback through sector-focus discussions focused on textiles, construction and building materials, and plastics.
- July 21: Textiles
- July 22: Built Environment
- July 23: Plastics
- July 24: Cross-Sector
- Stay tuned for a government/agency focused meeting around the end of August!
We had an incredible time connecting with many of you at the March Community Climate Conversations, and learned about exciting initiatives already happening across communities, organizations, and businesses, identified priorities associated with space, funding, and cross-sector coordination, and brainstormed solutions around education, workforce development, industry accountability and equitable access to circularity resources.
