Saturday Sept 6 from 12-8 pm: Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival. (7+ volunteers needed) We will be at Jennings Landing Park in Albany along the river helping collect food scraps and cans, and giving out information at our green tent. Great music & great people. Fireworks at 8 pm on the river!
Saturday Sept 27 from 11 am to 3 pm: Colonie Harvest Festival. (2 volunteers needed) At The Crossings Park in Colonie. Join us at our tent with other great vendors. We are hoping to start a year round community drop off site at a neighborhood church this year. Help us spread the word!
Sunday Oct 5 from 11 am to 4 pm: VegFest at the Albany Capital Center. (3 volunteers needed) We provide information and help collect food scraps. Great vegan food for sale!
Sat. Oct 25 from 2-6 pm. Helping out at the Trick or Trot 5k Race. (5 volunteers needed) In Washington Park, Albany. We give out cups of water during the race so we can help the City avoid single use water bottles. After the race we collect the peels from bananas and other fruit provided to the runners for composting.

Honest Weight Food Coop needs to hear from you re: giving a grant to Zero Waste CD. HWFC has $30,000 to give away to local non-profits that align with their mission. They just need YOU to nominate ZWCD and explain why. Zero Waste is Joining CLYNK – please consider donating your redemption change to our organization. We are raising funds for our year-round pilot Colonie Compost Drop Off site and our Community ReUse Center.

Empire State Summer Service Corps worker – We said goodbye to our SUNY intern Jacob who is back at school now in Fredonia. He was a tremendous help to us in spreading the word about the Albany Composting program and the Colonie Compost pilot program. He continues to do research that will help with our online “Waste Diversion Map”. If you can think of a better name for the map, please let us know.
