Stay Grounded Network

We want to present to you the new international network to for a just transport system and to reduce aviation called STAY GROUNDED. International Aviation is a major contributor to the climate crisis, and still no limits are being placed for its planned growth. It also could soon become a major driver of green grabbing because of offset projects and biofuel demand, if we don't urge the sector to stop their greenwashed climate strategy and replace it by effective measures to reduce aviation.
We would like to invite you to discuss and sign the position paper, and to find out how you could support and join the activities of Stay Grounded.
STAY GROUNDED is a growing global network of local airport opposition groups, climate justice activists, NGOs, trade unionists, academics, groups supporting alternatives like night trains, and organisations supporting communities which struggle against offset projects or biofuel plantations. It aims to exchange experiences, support each other, and campaign together for a reduction of aviation and its negative impacts.
This October the network and its many members will send a message to public media, decision-makers and the aviation industry by organizing actions at airports around the world, and by launching the critical position paper.
The network can be supported by different means:
Sign the position paper “Stay Grounded - 13 steps for a just transport system and for rapidly reducing aviation” (versions in EN, DE, ES, FR, ...) with your organisation. Please fill in this link, at best before the 27th of September, and/or
Join the network: To be a member of the network means that you can join the campaign, activities and decision making in the network, or collaborate by different means. A representative of your organisation/initiative can become active spokesperson on the Stay Grounded e-mail list, your logo and website-link will be included in the members-section of the website, and you’re welcome to join the network meetings (the next being October 13-14th 2018 in Vienna)
Joining the global action weeks "Stay Grounded! Counter aviation!" October 1-12th 2018 with a local action, e.g. a demonstration at an airport, a press conference, creative photo action, etc. This will send a message to the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), which right afterwards will decide on (the lacking) criteria for problematic emissions offsets and biofuels.
- Any other help in form of financial support, partial cooperation or feedback is also welcome, of course.
