Please sign this letter on behalf of your organizations to save the visionary African Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) from being corrupted right at the start.

Thanks,

Kjell

Hi dear friends,

You may have heard a couple months ago that France & the EU were trying to hijack the African-led Africa Renewable Energy Initiative. African civil society sent a strong letter - signed by 200 African groups. The African letter is here.

Now there is an international statement. If yours is an international organisation or a regional/ national organisation outside of Africa- please consider signing on to this, in solidarity with the African letter.

Please sign up directly on this google form (not to me :)

Deadline: end of the day 10th May (Wednesday)

thanks
~ dipti

Dear friends, please see below the call for sign on to an international statement regarding the EU hijacking of the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative. Mohamed sent it round several lists you may already be on but in case not:

You will likely be aware of recent concerning development in the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI) as reported in this Climate Home article. In response to an attempted EU hijacking of the initiative, a huge range of African CSOs issued a strong statement of condemnation of the EC and France, while reiterating their support for the African-led, people-centred transformative initiative that the AREI was envisioned to be.

Many non-African CSOs wanted to support their African colleagues and so attached is a statement written by several international groups which we now circulate for signatures. If your organisation would like to sign on please do so on this google form no later than end of day Wednesday 10th May.

Please help us circulate this sign-on far and wide so that we can help rescue the AREI.

Thank you,

Mohamed
