Where to next for the Coal Moratorium after Paris

Time: 19:00 – 20:00, Wednesday, December 9th, 2015

Place: Meeting Room 6, Hall 6, Blue Zone, COP21

While the world is meeting to discuss how to reduce emissions, countries like Australia are planning to build enormous new coal mines. Kiribati has proposed a moratorium on new coal mines. This demand can link local coal resistance to a global demand and even bring a new game to the UNFCCC. We would like to talk about the proposal with allies, friends and those interested in getting involved and look at the following issues together:

-          The climate movement and coal resistance in 2016

-          New and unusual alliances for a moratorium

Hosting: The Australia Institute/No New Coal Mines, Leave it in the Ground Initiative (LINGO)
