With my renewed apologies for the cross-posting, i am sending you a kind reminder to sign the joint letter that will be sent to the European Commission and European Member States representatives before their meeting on October 17th when they will decide (or not) support, via the new PCI list, the construction of dozens of climate disruptive fossil fuel infrastructure (oil and gas) in Europe (you can read more about it below).
You may or may not know that the European Commission and
European Member States are currently finalising a new
version of their European
Union list of energy Projects of Common Interest
(a.k.a. the PCI list). All the projects put in this list
acquire the biggest political support they can have at the
European level and also become eligible to receive money from
a European multi-billion financial instrument (a.k.a public
subsidies).
The current list has 77 (!!!) major gas projects
(including mega-pipelines and massive LNG regasification
terminals) that, if built, will seriously contribute to the
creation of a new fossil fuel lock-in at a time when we
should actively be phasing-out the existing fossil fuel
infrastructure to keep a chance to respect our international
climate commitments and Europe's decarbonisation objective.
On October 17th, the European Commission and Member States representatives will meet to take a final decision on the composition of the new list. Before it happens, we would like the participants of this meeting to receive a strong message from as many members of the civil society as possible (pan-European organisations, national groups, associations, etc but also groups and organisations from outside Europe who are directly or indirectly impacted by the gas imported to Europe from other regions in the world) about why new fossil fuel projects should stop receiving this sort of political and financial support.
We prepared a letter that we would like as many of your
organisations/groups/associations as possible to sign. On
October 12th, we will send the letter on behalf of all
signatories to the different participants of the meeting.

Thanks in advance for adding at the end of the letter your organisation's name and an email address (so we can keep you posted). And thanks for sharing this email in your network as widely as possible.
All the best,
