Clarification

I'm trying to make sure I understand. If I am in the Beta, I can only gift to people in the Beta. I cannot gift to people outside the Beta without leaving the Beta.

I can receive fish from people outside the Beta, but it just shows a Friend has sent a fish, not who.

Is this correct, or have I misunderstood something?

Well, one can't send to android users who didn't update to the higher version yet, because their Facebook friendship looks "expired".

I was surprised but there's one more thing.

Actually I can see and send to several friends, who weren't updated, and I also received fish back. So far I had no issues with 2 users. I would say they're on iOS.

Maybe that is what is confusing me, that IOS still works even without the update. Thanks.

Hi there!

If both of you were mutual friends before the android update, both of you would still be able to gift Koi to each other. 

If you see "Friend expired" it means that the other person (not on the new version) does not have you on their friend's list.

One of them is definitely on iOS, i will ask more and hopefully try to find out more about this pattern. It really surprised me in a good way that it works for me. Together with more and more people coming on beta, it means that it's better and better :)
