api key no work

hello. i applied for and received an api key 3 days ago. i inserted it
into wordpress plugin "digiauto" for backlinks, did a test and the api
key comes up negative. i have contacted the author of "digiauto" and
they have no problems. i am wondering if you have any ideas on this
problem. i did a cut and paste to transfer api key to program, and i
have re done it but still will not work
