I sent this before, but it might have gone unnoticed, so just wanted to confirm.

----------------------------------------

May Allah reward everyone for their work, and place baraka in it. Ameen.

I think I came across a translation error, and others can verify:

وَيَا قَوْمِ مَنْ يَنْصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ طَرَدْتُهُمْ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿٣٠﴾

Were I to drive you away my nation, who would help me from Allah? Will you not remember?

It is not drive you, but drive them, as he is replying to his chieftains of his people for driving away people they don't see as fit to associate with.

Wa Alaikumassalam,

Thanks for this report. This seems to be a mistake in translation.

BTW, we cannot change translation content. We just remove a translation from our resource page if its controversial or highly inaccurate. It's however a good idea to collect issues regarding each translation is a wiki page, and telling people who want to download translations about their quality. Feel free to create a page on the http://zekr.org/wiki for this translation.

Regards,
Mohsen

Problem is, it is a responsibility I know I will not be able to
upkeep.

Is anyone willing to take charge of keeping a page of mistakes in
translations reported?

Starting with the one mentioned here?

al-salam alaykum,

It seems that issues with translations (as opposed to Zekr's
preservation and presentation of those translations) are beyond the
scope of this project. Even though this error seems pretty clear, a
wiki page gathering translation errors could easily become a platform
for sectarian debates. After all, perceived errors in existing
translations are often the motivation for new translations. Detailing
such errors might best be left to other forums.

Greetings and best wishes,
Thanks for all of your work on this. I'm watching this effort because I am
developing software for web tools (Semantic Web), and Arabic is and must be
supported by my tools. And my Arabic is minimal.

I have a suggestion for keeping track of errors, including program bugs,
installation problems, translation errors, etc.. Use a collaborative tool
like Bugzilla or Trac. You can find a free tool on google.

Take a look at

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list

In fact, the Zekr project already has an issue page:

http://code.google.com/p/zekr/issues/list

Maybe this is all old news to you, but it could solve your error tracking
problem pretty easily. You would probably want to customize the "Type"
field. If you want help, I can contribute here.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your suggestion. We already have an issue page on sourceforge, but this is not an efficient way of keeping track of such issues in translations. I personally support Wiki pages for each translation with enough info about the translation and issues around that

Mohsen
