In 2015 a new control system will be implemented to replace the cRIO in FRC robots. This new control system has been been developed by National Instruments, the creator of the cRIO. National Instruments will announce more information in August. So far the information released has been info posters present at the 2013 FIRST Championship and an image of the PCB without any electronics attached to it. All three currently supported languages of LabView, C++, and Java will continue to be supported by the new control system.

Thread containing guesses at what will be on the PCB: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117359

There will be most likely 20 General Purpose I/O channels that handles standard sensors and speed controllers and 8 solenoid channels for pneumatics as guessed by one mentor http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15004&d=1371686639

USB is already confirmed, most likely standard A ports.

The last major control system change was in 2009 with the introduction of the cRIO. I wish those on the team in 2015 best of luck with designing and programming around the new control system.

There is a recent ChiefDelphi thread containing information on the 2015 Control System from Alpha testing teams.

A notable fact is the usage of a USB dongle radio instead of an ethernet router, so there is no boot up time for wireless connectivity.

Good luck at your competition this week.
