If you go to the 2nd floor above the Market and on the way to the Catenaries and turn the music off, you can hear some creepy, ghostly moaning sounds that sound like the damned. At least at night. Any idea what it's from? It's kinda creeping me out, tbh.
Banging Sounds
Is your home haunted by loud banging sounds? The culprit might be your water heater. Sometimes sediment buildup inside your tank can cause loud banging sounds. Solution? Call us for a professional water heater flush and put those frightening sounds to bed.
Creating interesting and even spooky sounds is super easy with a computer-based home recording studio. Its fun to experiment with not just interesting sounds, but scary ones as well, maybe for sound design purposes or for your Halloween antics.
Some of us had accidents like cutting hand on the microphone (we had to clean a few small blood spots later), in the earphones we heard some sounds that where not there as we listened to the recordings later (maybe some short circuit in cables, maybe not?).
Ghost Detector is exactly what it sounds like. You must detect and capture ghosts to earn Ghost Bux, which will let you purchase "improvements, gadgets and missions" to further gameplay.
Besides causing scary sounds, Helmholtz resonators also reduce noise in a wide range of applications. For instance, resonators are used in car exhaust systems because they can attenuate a specific and narrow frequency band. When a mean flow enters a typical exhaust system, a Helmholtz resonator attenuates the sound that is generated (similar to our bottle example above, but with the opposite effect).
When the frequency spectrum of the source of a vibration lies in the infrasound range, it is inaudible (or barely audible) to the human ear. However, the movement caused by the vibration source is easy to hear. Basically, you can sometimes hear the effect of a vibration, but not the cause. This discrepancy is where ghost stories are born.
Although I used to be wary of venturing to the Bridgewater Triangle and bumping into a ghost, learning about how vibroacoustic effects can cause seemingly supernatural noises has me ready to explore the area.

Designed with film, television and game soundtrack work in mind, Steven Wilson's Ghostwriter occupies a niche that's different from the typical all-in-one library. However, the edgy and distorted sounds in this collection would also provide a great resource for musicians working in rock, fusion, and funk. What is most remarkable is the attention to the big picture as well as details. These sounds were meant to go together, and in doing so, they provide a go-to progressive songwriter kit with little need to look outside the library. (Full article)
Dirty, warped and fuzzy. My God, those basses are fat. When I heard the Spector Bass Deep Grunge and Obliterator Bass Fuzz Monster I almost fell off my chair, so nasty, so deep. Like the bass, the guitars also have a unique character. The grunts and rattling are a delight. Everything has a dirty edge, a certain vivacity that'll make you hear the musician behind the samples. This also applies to the drums. Of course, Ghostwriter contains processed drum sounds, with huge rumble and other tasteful effects but the drydrum set with a wonderful dynamic sound contains the necessary imperfections making it sound like a real drummer.
Conclusion: For producers of film music, Ghostwriter can be a huge source of inspiration. And musicians with a preference for the more obscure can indulge themselves with this library. Writers of nice, airy songs, however, will see their good mood disappear like snow in the sun after fifteen minutes on the Evil Piano. The dark side of Ghostwriter will not appeal to everyone. I think the sheer depth and uniqueness of the sounds surpass what is currently on offer when it comes to virtual instruments. Ghostwriter sounds great and very distinctive. (Full article)
Comprising over 800 multisampled instrument patches, Ghostwriter is aimed at the "cinematic" composer, be they working in movies, games, TV or music. It's intended to be a source of high-quality 'alternative' bread and butter sounds, so we're talking guitars, basses, drums, keys, etc, rather than crazy synths and electronic tones.
Ghostwriter delivers a beautiful collection of instrumentation in an excellent interface. It's not really one for the dance music producer seeking fuel for their latest banger, but if deep, fascinating sounds, capturing all the energy and soul of the electric and acoustic instruments from which they were elicited, appeal, then this is a must-hear. Short test. What can you expect? In East West Studios in sunny California, Madonna, Elton John, Johnny Cash and other global stars have recorded many super hits. This is also where producer and solo artist Steven Wilson and studio owner Doug Rogers produced the sample library tested here today. It comes with a variety of different sounds, with a focus on sound for music, film, game or TV compositions. The 60-gigabyte library includes 8 DVDs with 800 multi-sampled instruments. Each instrument comes with several presets.
In the mixer section you can mix the sounds, and find common functions such as pan, mute and solo. The player is available for the plug-in interfaces VST, AU, AAX; if necessary, it can also operate as a standalone software. Via the routing settings it can easily be integrated into your DAW. Each channel can be assigned a separate MIDI or audio channel. Thanks to the MIDI Learn function you can assign each regulator a control element.
The 80 presets on the amp simulator consist of different amps and boxes that were recorded with known microphones such as the Shure SM57 or the EV RE-20. The 726 presets of the convolution reverb are admirable. They sound good with the sounds of the library and there is enough choice for every taste.
The bass sounds nasty and convincing. The clean and distorted guitar sounds create a mystical atmosphere. The guitars are my favorites in this library, and you will have rarely heard such quality. Despite the clear sentiment, the sounds are very diverse with lots of different facets. Even longer compositions will stay exciting.
Those who like it a little harder will have a lot of fun with the amp effect. The 80 presets offer plenty of variety. The well-tuned drum sounds bring additional excitement and action. The convolution reverb and tape delay provide the necessary depth.
When the team arrives at an investigation, it has a wide variety of equipment to capture evidence of a haunting. Some tools of the trade for ghost hunters include digital cameras, video, infrared, motion sensors, night vision, audio recorders, electromagnetic field detectors and temperature sensors.
You can add Halloween skills from the Amazon site or a voice command to give your home a creepy vibe (most of them are free). And if you want to really go all out, Google and Ring have a few Halloween tricks and treats to give all of your smart home devices a spooktacular feeling.
If you've got multiple Echo speakers, it can be fun to place one outside, out of sight, to spook others. For example, you can broadcast creepy sounds or play Halloween music. You can also use the Drop In feature on the speaker to let trick-or-treaters know from a safe distance that you enjoy their costume or how much candy to take. Note that it may be best to set out small bags of candy to avoid dozens of hands touching each piece. You should also make sure your Echo is out of the rain to prevent any water damage.
You can also request audio like the Spooky Sounds for Halloween EP on Spotify. Alexa has other creepy sounds available, including Haunted House and Scary Halloween Sounds to turn your Alexa device into a Halloween sound machine.
If you're spooked out by the end of the night, have Alexa lighten the mood by telling jokes. Just say, "Alexa, tell me a Halloween joke." The joke it gave me was, "Why shouldn't you date a spirit? So you don't get ghosted." The jokes may not be fall-over funny, but at least they can distract you from the scary stories you listened to earlier in the night.
The community of Elfin Forest sounds like it belongs in the world of Tolkien, even though it lies just southwest of Escondido in San Diego County. How fitting, then, that it is crawling with tall tales, myths, and stories of haunted spirits and goblins. Legend has it that Romani people used to occupy Elfin Forest in the early 19th century, until nearby townsfolk drove them out and slaughtered those that remained behind. Supposedly, they exacted revenge by cursing the forest and its surrounding lands. Today, people have claimed to see all kinds of eerie apparitions, like a floating woman dressed in white, a cloaked spirit riding a black stallion, and mysterious footprints.
Yet another English creep-fest, Wychwood Forest's air of mystery stems from the story of Amy Robsart, the wife of the Earl of Leicester. Robsart mysteriously broke her neck and died in 1560; years later, her husband encountered her ghost in Wychwood while on a hunting trip. Her spirit told the Earl that he would join her in the afterlife in just a few days. As promised, he fell ill shortly after the encounter and quickly died. Local legend says that anyone who encounters the ghost of Amy in Wychwood Forest will befall the same fate as the dearly departed Earl of Leicester.
The Dering Woods are commonly referred to as "the Screaming Woods" or, you know, a perfect place to host your next family camping trip. Visitors report hearing blood-curdling screams coming from the forest's depths at night as well as footsteps and whispers on foggy days. The screams are often attributed to a highwayman who was captured and killed by villagers in the 18th century, and whose ghost apparently still holds quite the grudge. Others believe the hauntings are the result of a 1948 massacre, where 20 people were supposedly found dead in the forest the morning of November 1. Residents reported seeing strange lights emanating from the woods that Halloween night and autopsies of the bodies couldn't determine a cause of death.
