Alô galera!

We sure hope you can come help us celebrate our 2nd anniversary at Mississippi Pizza next Saturday, December 11th.

z’Bumba plays forró: Brazilian dance music for EVERYBODY
Mississippi Pizza Pub
3552 N Mississippi Ave, PDX
Dec 11  9PM - 12:15 AM
$6 21+

Forró (fo-HOH) Is rootsy, rhythmic, and raucous music from the Brazilian northeast.

With healthy dose of percussion and bittersweet, baroque melodies, forró is great for dancing; a new fan called it "Salsa with Polka" at our last show.

Whatever you call it, forró may forever be associated with Lampião and his Cangaçeiros, the desert pirates of the Brazilian Northeast. Part Robin Hood, part Billy the Kid, these brutal, ruthless outlaws were also great lovers of music, inspiring generations of musicians.

Perhaps the best part is that the dance is really for everybody: no classes, heels, feathers, or biquinis are required, and although anyone can dance forró, there are usually a couple of ringers in the audience to help you get started.

z’Bumba features São Paolo native Gabriella, accompanied by an eight-piece all star band including the formidable squeezebox duo of 'Zé' and 'Moyseis.'

We'll have some new material to celebrate our 2nd anniversary, including a couple sung by new member 'Lambada’ of capoeira fame.

Hope to see you there!
