Once marginalized in Brazil as being “Music for Maids and Taxi Drivers,” Forró is enjoying a surge in popularity on both continents. Often likened to Zydeco and Cumbia, forró’s mix of Afro-Brazilian rhythm and bittersweet melody is great for dancing.
