Hi Brothers of Alpha Nu

It's been too long since we have hung out together. (My opinion)  I am hoping you agree that we should have another reunion.  We can have a large one with many years or smaller ones.

It can be arranged on this forum or via Facebook (Many of our fellow brothers are not on Facebook) Or we can have one person from each class year be designated to set up an email list they can send with info as a liason to their specific class. Some guys were upset that many of their classmates did not attend the reunion.  Maybe the College can furnish a list but they may not be up to date.  Linked In etc can be another avenue to search for guys not already on this list.  I suggest each person reach out to their personal favorite brothers and get their info to be added to this list and the Facebook group page for Alpha Nu and ask them to join Facebook for our group.

I live in Boca Raton full time. I wish I was closer to you guys.

Let's hear from you...any interest to get together at or near the college like last time?   Destination reunion?  Vegas?  New Orleans? Boston? Scottsdale? Chicago?

I am not sure if this even works anymore.

I'd love to hear from you.

Good idea Feiter.

David Cohen/79 and I were thinking about a mini PA/NJ/NY reunion July 30th baseball game.

David suggested the Phillies minor league team in Allentown, PA versus the Phillies, Yankees or Mets.

Anyone can let David or I know if they are interested.  Rob

Hey guys, great to hear from everyone and loved the picture of the old house! Brought back great memories!

I am not able to make the dinner on the 16th but truly appreciate the offer. Hopefully the next time everyone is getting together will work for me.

Is there a detailed list of all of the brothers in these email groups that I could have? I would be happy to fill in those that I may have that are missing as well.

Lastly, what is the status of the Mike Patino donation at this point? I have been out of the email loop for a while traveling.

Thanks and hope to see you guys soon.

Hi guys, Steve thanks for putting this out. I think it is a great idea. I cannot make the dinner on the 16th but would love to figure something out. The new ZBY Alpha Nu is also planning something for us in the fall so stay tuned for that. The re-charting ceremony was great, and I am proud of the new brothers and their respect for the past. Can anyone on this chain who would like to serve on the alumni board please let me know? We really to set this up and I need help advising.

Thanks,

Hi ZBT Brothers of Alpha Nu:

Many of you from '82 and '83 have already heard from me so apologize for the repeat request, but....

Muhlenberg College has a unique offer out for individuals or groups to create a scholarship fund in whatever name the donors prefer. If a donor or group of donors contributes $25,000 (over the next 5 years), they will match it. Thus a $50,000 scholarship would be established in the donors' preferred name. Then each year, a student would be awarded the 4-5% interest on that money (as I understand it). I know it would only amount to $2500 but that may be a big deal to some students.

I was thinking (Brad Strober suggested this many years ago) that we honor our fallen brother, Mike Patino, Class of '81, who was killed in New York just a year after graduating from the 'berg (July 1982). I think all of the classes that overlapped with Mike remember how terrific a brother he was. He had a big heart and was truly loved by all. I remember how tragic his murder was and how difficult his funeral was for those of us that attended. I believe he was the first in his family to graduate college and so I thought our scholarship might benefit some other young person who might be the first in their family as well.

If you like this idea and would be willing to contribute, please email me at an...@nih.gov or at the email below and let me know if you would be willing to give $1000 for 5 consecutive years. Five brothers from the class of '83 have already stepped up to create one $25K scholarship and 3 brothers from '82 have offered. So we need TWO other brothers to make another scholarship. We would we allowed to combine these two $25K scholarships, thus with Muhlenberg's match, have a $100K scholarship in Mike's honor.
Unfortunately the 'berg requests that there only be a max of 5 donors for each $25K scholarship.

The deadline for this is coming up fast and they would like commitments by the end of next week.
Thanks for considering this proposal. Please pass this message onto other brothers that you are in contact with that overlapped with Mike; I have very few email addresses from classes other than '82 and '83.

your brother,
Andy Golden

OK guys, I know that over half of you are pretty well off and there were a bunch of us that knew our buddy and brother Mike. I would expect  four or five of these $25,000 blocks to exist in his name. Many of us have not given shit to the 'Berg for years because we were pissed at then taking away our house. Now, we have the opportunity to give money to our future brother, have a tax deduction, and screw the "Berg out of matching our money. If we came up with five $25,000 blocks, that's $125,000 the 'Berg would have to fork over to us. I would also like to know if we get to choose who gets the scholarship money. That could be fun. Mike was a big weight head. Maybe, the brother that shows the most gym enthusiasm and needs a little financial help each year.
Again, by the grace of God and hard work our alumni is pretty well off. Lets freaking get this thing for Mike before we are all on feeding tubes and have someone else wipe our asses.

Many of us from ‘82-85 are going to the reunion at the Berg this Sept 20-21. Let’s get everyone to come. Let’s make it the beach party. Who is in and coming?
