This guide to the first part of Crysis contains a set of information and tips necessary to learn the basic gameplay mechanics, as well as an extensive walkthrough, which will allow you to smoothly complete the entire main storyline of the game.
The biggest part of the guide is the detailed walkthrough of the entire singleplayer campaign. The campaign in the game consists of 11 extensive main missions, and each of them has been broken down into smaller factors - the walkthrough contains maps of locations related to mission objectives, as well as detailed descriptions, which explain how to complete said objectives, how to deal with the encountered enemies and aliens or how to avoid unwanted confrontations. The guide also covers the last two boss fights of the main storyline and explains how to win the game and see the ending.
The walkthrough chapters feature a page with Beginner's guide where you can learn about e.g. how to properly use the nanosuit and what are its main modes, as well as which weapons in the game are the best. Other pages contain information about PC system requirements, features of the remaster from 2020, and also about how long it takes to beat the game.
Crysis consists of 11 missions to complete, and the guide has been divided into subsections that focus on each one. Our walkthrough features maps with recommended routes, fight descriptions and tips on how to complete the mission objectives correctly.
The above requirements apply to the original 2007 release of Crysis . On the Hardware requirements page in our guide you will also find complete information about the requirements of the 2020 Crysis Remastered.
Crysis it is not particularly long and completing all 11 single-player missions should take you about 10 hours. It may take longer if you play at a high difficulty level or do some optional exploration of partially open maps, although the game does not feature any typical collectibles and secrets. You can read more about how long it takes to beat Crysis on a separate page - Game length.
Unlocking 100% of the achievements is not difficult. Platinum forces you to play at the Delta difficulty level (the equivalent of a high difficulty level), but thanks to using nanosuits you can avoid or surprise many enemies by using camouflage. You can get all the trophies within a single playthrough, but you need to be careful, because some trophy requirements are easy to miss.
Crysis Remastered does not differ in gameplay or story - it features identical missions and mechanics as the original. Changes in the remaster are technical - for istance, may new graphics features were added, like ray tracing, DLSS support and the ability to play in 4K and 60 fps on next-generation consoles. All the most important improvements of the refreshed edition of the game have been compiled on a separate page of Crysis Remastered in the Appendix section.
Straight on into the breach! Pick Delta difficulty from the New Game menu and get rocking. This walkthrough is written with you kind of understanding how Crysis works in mind, however that won't mean as a first time player you'll be getting run down like roadkill. Regardless of how experienced you are, starting a Delta playthrough will only take you a little bit of time to accommodate and get nice and comfy with tackling enemies and generally hiding in the shrubs.
One thing I need to mention from the get go however, achievements that add up over time such as Marathon Man which has you using Sprint mode to get around for 3km or getting 400 kills for the Team Raptor achievement, won't be listed here but instead on the next page. Due to the fact I really can't guess at what point in the story you personally will have those unlocked, only the ones that have area specific criteria will be mentioned here on this page.
After the cutscene ends where you meet your buddies Prophet, Psycho, Jester and Aztec, you'll HALO jump out of the C-130 into the ocean below. But fate takes a twist and you'll be doing the LO part of HALO a over-stating service by not opening your chute at all. You'll land on the beach side with a SCAR rifle with some optional attachments, but we'll go over those in a moment, for now just wait for the game to reset your HUD and give you your functions as a nano soldier back.
Who knew abusing wild life had its perks! Anyway, first things first; hold the to open your weapon customization menu. Attach a suppressor to your SCAR, the Tactical Attachment and a Reflex Sight, leave the flashlight alone as it'll only attract enemies to you and uh, let's be fair here, how can one be stealthy with a freakin' lightbeam coming from his chest?
One quick explanation about the Tactical Attachment, it's essentially a dart-gun with poison tipped darts that cause enemies to go sleepy-sleep for a fair while. On Delta they will wake up rather quickly, depending on the situation it can be anywhere between a 2 minutes and 5. Only ever use this when you're uncertain you can kill an enemy outright, after all when he's asleep you can still go up to him and finish the job up close.
Proceed though the tutorial section until you stumble upon your first enemy, drop him with a headshot and for the sake of conserving ammo it's wise to switch your rifle to single shot by pressing left on the D-Pad. It's not necessary if you feel like you can't play this way but with it on, it'll only make you into a more precise marksman by making your first shot count. As a plus, double-tapping is also more effective than going full auto, the recoil is much more manageable.
You'll find 3 more enemies in the distance around a campfire, you should be able to take them all out with stealth. Otherwise just take cover behind some of the stray logs and answer their fire with some of your own.
Progressing on, Aztec's being brutally torn apart and as you go into the woods you'll stumble on the man dangling about surrounded by KPA corpses. Carrying on, hug the left wall in the shrubs and hit Stealth Mode as soon as Prophet warns you of a patrol incoming. It's two guys with FY71s, let them walk past and leave them be, or if you want a weapon with virtually infinite ammo, let them pass and take them out two solid bursts to their heads.
Grab their rifles and slap on the same set up of suppressor, sight of your choice and start using the rifle from now on. All the way up into the third act, the FY71 will be in your arsenal for one simple reason; It's downright the best gun in the game. Later on you'll be equipping it with a sniper scope, incendiary rounds and a grenade launcher.
Up on the ridge, whip out your binoculars by pressing up on the D-pad and put the circle over every enemy in the area to start marking people off for the Keen Observer achievement, for which you only need 30. The other benefit is that spotted enemies remain marked on your map until they perish, no matter where they wander off to.
If you're a good enough shot you can begin taking out people from the ridge, only make sure you get a headshot or else they'll alert their buddies. Regardless of stealth, soon a patrol boat with a gunner will make a slow pass near the beach and after, a LTV (light transport vehicle) will arrive holding 2 guys and a gunner who will remain in the vehicle. The priority here is to make sure the guy in the LTV dies, the turret will shred you up and even if you hide indoors, the bullets are strong enough to blast the walls down.
When all the enemies are dead, you can finally take out the optional objective. Let's just assume the two red barrels around the place are still up, you can place them both next to the thing and fire a single round at it. Boom, first one down! If the barrels were somehow blown up, well then just hop in the LTV, press to get in the gunner's seat and unload on the thing 'til it gives way.
Your way to the next village can be pitifully easy, swim straight across and try to exit the water around the left end of the village and steer clear of it. The downside to this is, no marks with your binocs, no kills for the 400 tally and certainly no new weapon attachments this way.
The best course of action is to stick close to the water's edge and spot all the enemies on your way there, you'll find around 20 in total, 2 next to the first village, 5 investigating the beach at the rocks, 3 standing still, 2 in a LTV driving down the road to the beach and 8 more in the Fisher's Village. If you just hug the beach and tactically take out enemies along the way, you should have Keen Observer before the end of this mission.
Sticking to the beach, past the village, Prophet will let you know about the second optional objective that'll appear off on the far end of the map. You'll stumble on two more patrols of about eight guys total on your way there, but hug the beach, you do not want to alert the people in the small village on the right side of the road just yet.
When you approach the overlook, you can try and headshot the guy on the turret overlooking the beach, he won't spot you until you're pretty damn close so just try to get a good aim going and pop his head. Otherwise, leave him be and crawl up the incline on the right, hugging the left side of the road.
A small patrol will make its way down and back up the road, you're best off killing these guys and letting their buddies investigate the scene while you sneak up into the trailer with the optional objective inside. Tag it off quick, sit near the doorway while cloaked and when it hits 100%, sneak out the way you came, down the slope and onto the beach.
Now this time, you're going to have to get aggressive. Personally, I tend to do the stupid thing by taking one of the pickup trucks, driving it up into the camp and ploughing it into the back of the LTV, causing a massive explosion that draws all enemies out into the open. Then switching to full auto, hiding behind the sand barriers and taking them out as they show themselves.
