ZAP installer does not work.   Ive tried to uninstall the latest version from my windows server via :
Controll panel -  Settings/Apps & Features - from installation directory uninstall.exe
All come back with blank results.   There is no process running - Nothing - it blinks and that's it.
Another reason why I dont like ZAP besides the difficulty downloading it.
We simply cannot download  a third party tool to uninstall ZAP - the uninstaller program needs to originate from installed ZAP.

Please provide instructions on how to remove this application
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

Exactly how did you install ZAP?
ZAP supports many different installation options, so thats the key question.

Cheers,

Simon

I was able to some how to download your msi file from your download page.  With that I had to install a JAVA JRE/SDK package - that went on first, then I ran the msi file second.  There was version 2_14_0 which was successfully removed from the control panel.  Making 3 attempts  via the control panel, via Apps & Features & the uninstaller have failed.  The most logical steps to take.  I even went a step further and uninstalled the JAVA package first, but the uninstaller required Java to be there so here we are..  I have an application that needs to come off and I really dont want hack my registry to remove this application and we cannot install third party tools as well, so Im asking the development team of ZAP to provide me a solution

We do not provide an MSI download, we only provide EXEs.
However you could have installed ZAP via either Scoop or Choclatey.
The full set of options we either support or know about are detailed on https://www.zaproxy.org/download/

The uninstallation will be different for the EXEs, Scoop or Choclatey.

Simon you are correct  I got the download from your zap download site - the site where it has two warnings on the page
No Chocolaty or Scoop.. Downloaded the 64 bit installer straight from the page.

Great.
You will need Java installed, so if you have removed that then you should re-install Java, we recommend Java 17.
Then go to Windows Setting / Apps / Installed apps.
There you should see "Zed Attack Proxy by Checkmarx 2.17.0" - you can search for "ZAP" if you have lots of programs.
Clicking on the "..." (More options) should give you a menu with "Modify" (which will be greyed out) and "Uninstall".
Yep, you should select "Uninstall".

At least thats what I see on a Windows box I had to hand.
If you have a different version of Windows installed then you may see something different.
But as I understand it, we are following the recommended best practices for uninstalling applications.

Cheers,

Simon
