OWASP ZAP proxy issues on Mac

Good Day. Iam using version 2.4 of OWASP ZAP application on mac. It got installed under applica.. dir. When i launch the application, it opens up, but

1. I am not able to enter any value under url field for passive\active scans.

2. I configured it as proxy for web traffic, but still it doesnt show up the web traffic accessed.

So, what could be the issue for this behaviour? Where can i see the error logs for OWASP ZAP app? Am i doing some thing wrong?

Note: I restarted the app post setting changes, but still no effect. Please let me know.

Hello San,

1.) What do you mean when you say that you're unable to enter any values in the URL fields? Do you mean the "URL to attack" text box in the "Quick Start" tab? Are you typing in characters but nothing shows up in the textbox?

2.) Which browser are you using for proxying through ZAP? Try accessing "http://zap" through your browser. If everything is properly configured, this should show the ZAP welcome page.

3.) The default directory that ZAP uses on starting up depends on the OS it's running on (https://code.google.com/p/zaproxy/wiki/FAQconfig). Since you're running it on a Mac, it should be "~/Library/Application Support/ZAP". There will be a "zap.log" file under this directory that should provide some insight into what's going on.

Santhosh : I didnt see any ZAP folder under the path mentioned. Is it like it got installed at some other path?

Hi.

The text field and button of the "Quick Start" tab are disabled when the
mode [1] is set to "Protected"/"Safe".
Setting the mode to "Standard" should re-enable the text field and button.
