I recently bought a new sky tech gaming system with 32gb ram and all sorts of other features since my previous system was outdated, and it was an all-in-one HP. The point is i really thought with having updated ram and CPU power will help and aide me in my hacking and keep Zap from freezing up. But as expected, Zap continues to freeze and i have to stop and redo my work all over again.

Look, i prefer Zap to Burp community any day, but this freezing issue is beyond frustrating.

Be much more specific please.

How are you starting ZAP?
What version of ZAP are you using?
What version of Java are you using? (Actually you could provide full support info from the help menu)
What OS?
What are you doing with ZAP when it freezes?
How long as ZAP been running when it freezes?
How much traffic have you proxied when it freezes?
etc

Have you tried a weekly?

I am just starting it as usual everything is updated 2.12.0 currently i use the manual function rather than the automated scan. I am using Windows OS and Kali-Linux i also use tools like Amass, Waybackurls, Commix, and Subfinder in the terminal or more specifically Terminator. I am also testing on Google Cloud which i know is a massive site and i am trying to break it down into smaller pieces only focusing on cloud.google.com instead.

Thats doesnt help us reproduce the issues I'm afraid.
What are you actually doing with ZAP?
Does ZAP completely freeze? If so please provice a stack trace (kill -3 <pid>)

We cant fix things we cant reproduce :/

Hello all,

My kali vm keeps freezing when running Zap.sh as well.

I'm running the latest version of  Kali as a  vm on KVM with 4 cpus and 12 Gigs of ram.

the exact command I run to start a scan is /usr/share/zaproxy/zap.sh -cmd -quickurl https://192.168.10.11 -quickprogress -quickout zap.json
192.168.10.11 is a host on the local lab network where Kali is running

The active scan runs until about 38% and then freezes the whole system to the point where I have to poweroff and reboot to get back into the OS

Just wanted to add in I am using the following

┌──(root㉿home-pentest)-[~]
└─# java -version
openjdk version "17.0.10" 2024-01-16
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 17.0.10+7-Debian-1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 17.0.10+7-Debian-1, mixed mode, sharing)

and running the scan against DVWA for testing purposes. It runs for several hours and seems to crash at 38% mark

Best is to provide a thread dump and the zap.log when hangs happen.

Best regards.
