Uninstall ZAP 2.5.0

Hi everybody,

I am new using ZAP, and facing with a little problem: i have installed version 2.5.0 and i downloaded version 2.6 , run the instller, it recognized the previous version (2,5) and i proceed with install process without any problem. But when I run ZAP it informs me that the version still mantains version 2.5.

I am trying to uninstall ZAP e perform a new installation with 2.6 installer.

So my simple question: how uninstall the old version?

I am using Kali 2.0 and i am starting through menu applications>web application analysis>owasp-ZAP

Did you update it from the Kali repo?

Or did you update it manually?

Hi kingthoring,

Through Kali repo the ZAP's update didn't work. So I downloaded using ZAP's site, the installer and run at my computer. The installer (from 2.6) recognized that an old version was installed, ask me to update which i respond "yes" (of course) and ends the instalation telling me that was sucessfull. But when I try to run ZAP, the banner from 2.5 version appears, and when I go to "about" option it shows me 2.5 as my installed version.

So, I decide uninstall e re-install using the new version, that's why I asked about how to uninstall the old version, or in this case, any version of ZAP.

Can you help me?

For info - I raised this issue with Kali when we released 2.6.0 but they havnt updated ZAP yet :/

Personally I suggest waiting for their official package.

I haven't used Kali in years so I'm not going to try and figure out how you should go about removing and installing from a non-official source. However, I will provide a reference to their documentation site: https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-documentation/, what you're after in probably in the general use or customization section.

thanks, but even using dpkg i got some problems:

amitay@PC00:~$ sudo dpkg -r zaproxy

dpkg: problems with dependencies prevent zaproxy's remove:

 kali-linux-full depends on zaproxy.

Our installer isnt written with Kali in mind.
Usually they update their repos very quickly, so I'm not sure why they havnt this time.

How are you starting ZAP?
You could try running:

/opt/zaproxy/zap.sh

Alternatively you could install the 'cross platform' version whereever you want and start it from there.

The Kali issue https://bugs.kali.org/view.php?id=3937 has been resolved, and 2.6.0 should now be available in Kali-rolling.
Can you try to update ZAP via kali and let us know if that now works?
