Access SSL certificate of target, via scripts

Hi all,

Is it possible to view/retrieve the SSL certificate of the target system using ZAP scripts?

I'd like to incorporate some certificate checks into a passive scan rule, and I can't figure out how to access the certificate.

I'm open to using any of the supported scripting language, but would prefer python or JS (if possible).
