We are pleased to announce that our new book, titled “The Notion of Vitality in African Philosophy of Religion,” which is part of Elements in Global Philosophy of Religion and published by Cambridge University Press, is now available.
This Element advances the discussion on vitality in African philosophy of religion by offering a critical overview of traditional interpretations of the concept from the Bantu, Yoruba, and Igbo religious and philosophical perspectives. Additionally, it examines how the idea of vitality appears in conversations about ethics, dignity, and the meaning of life. Finally, the Element presents a critique of the concept of vitality, drawing on the works of Innocent Asouzu, Metz, and Bernard Matolino.
