The 3rd International Conference of the Conversational Society of Philosophy
Venue: University of Calabar, Nigeria
Theme: Local Questions…African Problems
African philosophy has, in the last few decades, grown in leaps and bounds. While areas like African Ethics and political philosophy have seen steady growth, areas such as African philosophy of religion, African metaphysics, African logic, African epistemology, have been recently re-invigorated with various seminars, workshops, books and special issues contributing to timely debates about questions like the nature of God, the problem of evil, the fundamental nature of reality, decolonisation, systems of logic, etc. Furthermore, in more recent times, new cutting-edge areas of inquiry have also emerged: questions related to the meaning of life, Afrophobia, and Afropessimism have begun to receive some serious attention from some African philosophers. Yet, more still needs to be done. The 3rd Biennial International Conference of the Conversational Society of Philosophy aims to serve as a springboard to more cutting-edge engagements that cut across questions that arise in the African place and the problems that trail them, using African-developed methods. We welcome submissions that are conceptual, comparative and critical (rejoinders/engagements) in all areas/traditions of African Philosophy, especially on topics related to xenophobia/Afrophobia, racism, ethnicism, African philosophy of religion, African development, African logic, African epistemology and African metaphysics.
The outcome of the conference will be published in two formats: a journal special issue and an edited collection.
