Dear Colleagues

The North-West University School of Philosophy is excited for the upcoming annual conference of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa, which will take place from Wednesday 22 January 2025 to Friday 24 January 2025. Below are some additional details for the conference.

Venue

The conference will be held at the scenic location of Stonehenge in Africa (https://www.stoneza.co.za/), situated in the Vredefort Dome. This region encapsulates the location of a meteorite impact that occurred more than 2 billion years ago (making it the second oldest astrobleme of this sort on Earth). The Vredefort Dome was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2005, and it is the only World Heritage site in Africa that is primarily under private ownership. We are excited to showcase this geologically noteworthy part of the North-West Province for the conference (https://www.vdome.co.za/).

Submissions

We welcome submissions on any philosophical topic. Abstracts are to be submitted by 31 August 2024. Early confirmation of acceptance is available for those who submit earlier – please remember to request early confirmation if you need it.

For individual paper presentations: Submit an abstract for anonymous review of approximately 350 words, with a maximum of 5 keywords. Please ensure that abstracts are prepared for blind review, with author details in a separate document or included in the email text.

For panel proposals or roundtables: Provide title, a concise description of the topic (approximately 500 words), a list of participating individuals, and titles for each paper that will form a part of the activity. We strongly encourage including abstracts for the papers featured in the panel as well (350 words). All materials should be anonymized for review purposes and participants need to indicate their willingness should the session proposal be accepted.

Submit abstracts to pssaconfe...@gmail.com.
