📢 Join Us: Second Annual Black Archive Public Lecture

I am pleased to invite you to the Second Annual Black Archive Public Lecture, drawn from the forthcoming book Post-Liberal Futures.

This year’s lecture, titled
Post-Liberal Futures: Democracy, Customary Law, and the Crisis of Recognition”, asks a pressing question:
What happens when people no longer recognise the legitimacy of the institutions that govern them?

Through the South African experience—where customary law both challenges and is subordinated to constitutional authority—the lecture explores a deeper crisis within liberal democracy itself. Moving beyond critique, this lecture opens a space to rethink democracy through the Black Archive as a living intellectual resource grounded in alternative traditions of reasoning.
