Dear All,

The SARChI Chair in Higher Education and Human Development (HEHD) is pleased to invite you to the fifth session of the Webinar Series for the first semester of 2026.  This session examines, from an African philosophical perspective, Walter Sinnott-Armstrong’s argument on climate change which denies that individuals bear moral obligations to act in collective harm contexts, grounding this claim in the insufficiency of individual contributions to overall harm – the problem of inconsequentialism – and the absence of an intention to cause harm.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting, engaging, and timely conversation that explores questions of climate change from an African philosophical perspective.
