Dear colleagues

We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Please share with anyone who may be interested.

The University of Fort Hare's Centre for Leadership Ethics in Africa, in the Department of Politics and Philosophy, is making available funds to award a Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct research at the University of Fort Hare. These are valued at R300,000.00 per annum.

Preferred areas of research include Social and Political Theory, African Political and Moral Philosophy, Applied Ethics, Intellectual History, and Critical Theory.

We may consider applications outside of these specified areas of research.

DEADLINE 17 APRIL 2026

REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS
1. Emerging scholars who have completed their PhD within the past 5 years
2. Proof of formal recognition of doctoral degree by the SA state
3. The bursary is valid for a period of 24 months from the month of arrival and may be extended with evidence of good progress
4. By the end of the fellowship the Postdoctoral Fellow should have produced at least 4 x accepted, accredited publication units
5. Preference will be given to SA citizens and permanent residents, with weighting toward Black and/or female candidates.

2. The candidate must write a 200-300 word proposal on their research interests
