I have a client who was acquired by a larger organization.

Approximately 4000 users.  8 TB of data

Client insists on export to PST with Folders for all users.

I am hoping there is a better option than the Admin restore process...

Please help

I had to do this for a very small client recently and it was brutal. We're only talking 25 users with 50gigs of PSTs.   I would contact RAND Secure Archive as they have a tool similar to Transvault and that is exactly what they do, provide PSTs of the users you want with full folder structure. They just require one server with remote connectivity. They charge by TB no matter how long it takes.

I was hoping for a tool....  We really don't want to give our work to someone else...   That is a bad business model...

Rick and I come from different companies but I’m sure both TransVault and the RAND product can be run in-house.

Doing EAS extracts to PST using TransVault is really easy – We either work using EASIIS to retrieve the messages or with a direct connector (for where EASIIS is not reliable).

A colleague wrote a small vbscript that basically goes through each folder in a PST, loops through checking each item's messageclass and if it is "IPM.Note.EAS", then opens the message.  (Set EAS Outlook client setting to automatically restore the email when opened).

You will need to install Redemption.dll  (available for download on the web).

I just completed restoring a 600 MB PST that grew to about 30 GB after all messages were restored.  :)

For copyright reasons, I am unable to share the vbscript.  :(
