Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else is running into this issue. We are
running EAS 6.1.9 with 1 parent server and 2 child servers. We are
seeing the W3WP.exe going to 100% on the boxes every 1 - 10 minutes.
When this happens our users cannot open up stubbed messages. The
would get a 'Unable to perform operation due to a commuincation or
server error. Please contact your system administrator'. We believe
it's being caused by our offline sync being set to continuous.

When we reset IIS, it would work until the W3WP.exe goes to 100%
again. We checked the memory dumps with debug diag on W3WP.exe when
it was 100% and it's pointing to the EASWEB.dll file. It tellling us
there are blocked threads. When we checked with Microsoft about it,
they told use that the easweb.dll is an isapi filter and would need
the symbol files from Autonomy to get more information for the dumps.

When checking the 'worker threads' in IIS7 we can see the requests for
messages coming thru, but some requests stay stuck in there for over
30 minutes! These are probably taking up cpu and causing the
blockage.

If anyone has any ideas or quesitons, please let me know.

any feed back is appreciated, thanks in advance

try increasing following value in eas.ini file on EAS IIS server

HttpTimeout=30

also check network latency between EAS servers, doc store

does it happen all the time or any specific time of day?

we imporved our EAS IIS performance by increasing this, also check your IIS

Thanks for the information! I've updated the eas.ini
'Httptimeout=130' and did an iisreset. I'm going to see if that make
a difference. I've checked the lactency fromthe EAS, IIS and the doc
stor and the ping times come back is 1ms<.

thanks again for the tip, I will let you know if it works!

Oh I forgot to mention that our IIS server cpu W3WP.exe goes to 100%
every 1 - 10 minutes. It's a huge mess.

thanks again!

It may be a bit of a donkey solution, but try an older version of the easweb.dll.

Thanks Ahmer, I really appreciate your feedback. I tried the eas.ini
update to the httptimeout and didn't see a difference. We have 4 EAS
IIS servers behind a Citrix Netscaler. We have about 6,500 users in
our environment. We've got a ticket open with Autonomy right now and
I'll keep you posted on what we find.

Again, thanks for your feedback. If you ever had a question, please
let me know and I will do my best to provide information based on
experiences that I've had with the software.

Best regards,

Thanks Allan,

I'm willing to try anything at this point. I do it tomorrow if
Autonomy doesn't call me back in the morning.

Cheers!

see this load balancer configuration guide if this helps

we are a small shop, 3000 users, one parent, one EAS IIS/EWA, indexer and IDOL server

what I found that Autonomy is not very good at support and in documentation

Do you have direct support with Autonomy ? we go via RAND

EWA - Load Balanced Configuration Article V1.0.doc

Thanks for the doc! I'll take a look and see if it helps. We have a
call in about 30 minutes with Autonomy on this issue. We go thru our
vendor for support (BishopIT) and I agree that support and
documentation from Autonomy is not very good. We had to escalate the
issue to a higher level to get where we are at now.

I'll keep you posted, thanks again for all the input!
