Create your own character and choose your partner as you venture out into a world of destruction, overrun by the Lost. Use your combined strength to coordinate your approach and defend each other from surprise attacks or overpowered enemies using your Blood Veil and various weapons. Change the feel of the game depending on which partner you choose, each with their own combat style and background story.
Take on the Lost as you explore the malefic world of CODE VEIN. Choose from a myriad of weapons such as bayonets, axes and spears, to accommodate your favorite battle style. Apply strategy in your attacks through partnered coordination and Blood Veil enhancements, ready to bring down the most threatening enemies.
Becomes the Successor of the Breath to protect the world for his sister, Mia, who fell into a seemingly everlasting slumber. Built his Crypt on the Ridge of Frozen Souls. Though forbidden by Jack, he used a relic to create a clone of himself to accompany Mia, while he fights off the frenzy.
Works under Louis at the base. He is a mail Revenant who was a soldier before.
Lots of Revenants follow him as a brother because of his character of obligation and caring. We can see his intelligence and cool face as a professional of battles.There is color of the sorrow in his eyes after the battle when he beats Losts, the fighting might remind him of his old mates.
A revenant who works in tandem with Jack, having grown close to him after he saved her life. Lived as a human until Operation Queenslayer, but became a heartless revenant slave. Saved by Jack, she becomes successor to the Relic of the Throat for his sake. Can stabilize relics through her singing.
A revenant known as "the Hunter" and feared even by friends. Like Yakumo, he is professionally trained in battle from his time as a soldier. He shares a deep connection to the protagonist. Achieved great feats in Operation Queenslayer, inherited the Relic of the Eye, and is charged with overseeing the relic seals. His protection of the relics earns him the name "the Hunter".
As they journey to the end of this tragic and cruel world, nobody knows what kind of fate awaits them. Knows Louis and the others through her attempting to steal blood beads for her brother, Nicola, so he wouldn't lose himself.
Born from a Vestige of Cruz. An Attendant of the Relics. When she meets the protagonist, her life takes an unexpected turn. Doesn't realise how special her knowledge is because it's all she's ever known. Sometimes offers guidance to Louis. Able to restore and repair blood codes. Not the Attendant of the Relics you meet next to the Successor's Crypt.
A young leader diligently researching ways to save revenants from their ravenous bloodthirst. Searching for the source of blood beads (substitutes for human blood), he ventures into the deepest parts of Vein.
Befriends the protagonist and becomes a key ally. Asks them to help save the people who suffer from the lack of blood (blood beads). Has known Cruz, the Queen, from a young age and regrets being unable to stop her frenzy.
The Protagonist is the hero of the story of Code Vein. They were turned into a Revenant following the Great Collapse and played a critical role in Operation Queenslayer, having been the one to actually land the killing blow on the Queen. They are now a Freelance Revenant working with a team under the lead of Louis Amamiya in order to uncover the root of the Great Collapse, find a solution to Revenant situation and discover the truth of their own past.
It is later revealed that the Protagonist is the Successor of The Queen's Blood, which was the cause of their newfound ability to restore memories, bloodsprings, mistles and through the new blood code that they manifested, absorb the blood of other revenants, thus gaining access to their codes.
The Protagonist survived however, awakening years after the fact at the bottom of a ravine, their memories of the incdent having been lost. They are kept company by Io, a mysterious girl in white who treats them with the utmost care as she tends to them and nurses them back from the brink of frenzy. Unfortunately, they are soon accosted by scavenging Revenant faction and taken captive, with the Protagonist being forced to hunt for Blood Beads, incentivized by an apparent threat to Io's well-being, the Protagonist departs with their assigned partner, Oliver Collins. Their mission changed however after meeting Louis Amamiya mid-hunt. Not long afterwards, the Protagonist encounters the Lost form of Oliver, having succumbed to the miasma and transformed into one of the Lost. After defeating Oliver, the Protagonist discovers a Vestige which Louis warns them not to touch. Io seems to know something they don't however and with her encouragement and support, the Protagonist forgoes Louis' warning and picks up the Vestige. Though it initially begins to cause frenzy in Protagonist, Io soothes them and continues calmly coaching them through the process. Finally, the Protagonist then unleashes the power of the Queen's Blood, purifying the Vestige and entering the memory of Oliver Collins. After the encounter, an amazed Louis suggests that the Protagonist use their power to help save the Revenants in Vein from starvation and ultimately, extinction. As Io helps them stand, the Protagonist accepts Louis's offer and the duo join him and the rest of the Revenants on their quest to save Vein.
Along their journey, the Protagonist discovers another vestige in the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood. Upon absorbing it, the vestige is revealed to belong to the Protagonist themselves, containing their forgotten memories of Operation Queenslayer and granting them access to their original blood code, "Queenslayer".
