Hi Andrew,

I'm writing a book on zabbix at the moment, and I'm looking at including a link to the ruby api. Is it updated for zabbix 2.0 yet?

cheers,

Walter

Yes and no. Zabcon will work with Zabbix 2.0, however it does not
understand some of the new intracacies of 2.0 with regards to multiple
host interfaces and so forth for it's internal commands like "get
host". Right now the best way to handle 2.0 related items is via the
use of the "raw api" command.

Overall 2.0 would not be terribly difficult to add support for.

Let me know if you need any help writing up some example scripts. The
Ruby Library is very straight for writing simple scripts, and I would
argue this would be a very simple way to introduce people to API scripting.

Ok, that is good to know.

I'll put a note in the book about that.

The book is not due until December or so, do you think you might have
this implemented by then? (I recommend it ;) )

Hmm, I'm taking PHP for the sample code simply because I know that language :)

I think that's doable. I need to get some things done for the
conference first. Some of the conference related things will dove tail
with your 2.0 request.

I think you'll find the Ruby code easier to read. :-) Send me some
example php code and I'll send back the Ruby Equiv.

Cool, has anyone told you you are awesome lately? If not: you're awesome!
Unfrtunately I won't be at the conference this year due to a shift in
focus to Puppet in Southeast Asia for OlinData, but I hope you have a
blast like last year!

Once I get to that point, I'll happily take you up on that offer :)
