I take it that SABC 1,2,3 and e-tv aren't available on the C-Band DSTV
service then?!
Anyone know?

Finally thanx to all I've managed to get etv, SABC 2&3 on DsTV. Took
quite some time and the various postings left out some of the steps
(only today I realised you have to remove the smart card). Anyhow,
for what its worth, here's what worked for me (on SMS receiver).
Thanx again to all postings I've used to assemble these instructions.

Step 1

Download the latest software (L-4) by going to 'menu', 'advanced
options'
'dsr upgrade' Once the upgrade is done and the dsr has rebooted, do
the
following.

Step 2

Remove smart card
Go to menu
Go to Advanced options
Go to Change Dish Installation
Enter the pin '9949'

Change the manual tuning parameters to the following
- frequency 12729

- symbol rate 20000
- polarisation Vertical
- fec 3/4
press 'OK' on the last item, and you should get back to the previous
menu
now DO NOT press 'retune dsr' as this will only get you SABC and you
will
lose DSTV completely. Just press 'EXIT' all the way out.

Step 3

Pull out the power cable and then put it in again after a few seconds.
Your receiver will reboot.

Step 4

Now if you press the 'TV' button on the remote, you will see the three
bouquets on
the screen as before and then you will have the blank bouquet at the
bottom
of the list, choose this option, and scroll up to channels
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

They are the following:

3: etv
4 Sen2 (not working)
5. Sen1 (Mr Price Red Cap Radio)
6. SABC 3 (in full Nicam stereo of course)
7. SABC 2
8. SABC 1 (not working at the moment)

Now pop the smart card back in. At any time you can press 'tv' again
and select DSTV to switch back to the DSTV bouquet.

Note: Do NOT at any time retune the IRD or you will lose your DSTV.
if you do this by mistake, here are the original DSTV settings.
- freq 21517
- sym rate 21850
- pol Horizontal
- fec 5/6

It works on my SMS as well but when I tried it today (Sunday 18th
October) I get ONLY Ktv on 3 and NO other channels. In fact, it onlt
show channels 1-3. Has Multichoice removed the SABC channels from its
package?

They were there - e-tv on channel 3, KTV on 1, SABC3 on 8, SABC2 on 9
and soon SABC1 on 10 (though it was running some weeks back).
