Jeannine Seoane, 48, was teaching at Archbishop Chapelle High
School, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, when she sexually molested
a 17-year-old female student.
On July 11, 2013, Seoane, the mother of two, pleaded guilty to
prohibited sexual conduct between educator and student and
unlawful purchase of alcohol for someone younger than 21. The
judge sentenced her to two years probation with conditions after
suspending jail time.
In addition to the probation, Seoane is required to pay fines,
perform 100 hours of community service, and see a psychiatrist
once a month. She is also prohibited to contact the victim in
person or through social media. Seoane is also required by
Louisiana law to register as a sex offender and child predator
for 15 years, NOLA/Times-Picayune reported that in court the
victim told the judge that she was not gay and felt that Seoane
seduced her during a vulnerable time in her life. She also said
she was the focus of negative gossip when other students learned
about her relationship with Seoane.
