MIND SPORTS OLYMPIAD

The 1st Mind Sports Olympiad will take place at the Royal Festival Hall
in London from August 18-24 1997.

There will be tournaments for more than 30 different games and mental skills,
including chess, bridge, backgammon, go, Scrabble, shogi, Chinese chess,
checkers, ... etc.

The mental skills tournaments include computer programming, crossword puzzles
and mental calculations.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the leading contestants
in each tournament, and another set of medlas to the leading juniors (under 16)
in each tournament.

There will also be a Virtual Mind Sports Olympiad taking place at the same time
via the Internet.
