PRK FAQ's

Lens Express Inc.
a Subsidiary of Summit Technology Inc. Answers to your questions

Q. How do I know if I'm a good candidate for laser correction of
nearsightedness?
A. The great majority of all nearsighted people are potential candidates
for the laser treatment. Typically, patients who are at least 21 years of
age who have mild to moderate nearsightedness (from 1.5 to 7.0 diopters)
and meet certain medical and visual criteria are suitable. The best
candidates tend to be people who are dissatisfied with their contact
lenses or glasses and are motivated to make a change, whether it's due to
occupational or lifestyle reasons. However, only an eye doctor who is
specially trained in laser correction of nearsightedness can evaluate a
patient's suitability for the treatment.
Call Summit Vision Centers at 1-800-524-8668 to schedule your FREE
Evaluation.

Q. How long does the treatment take? How long will my recovery be?
A. The laser treatment itself takes about 15 to 40 ! seconds, based on the
degree of correction necessary. Only one eye is treated at a time.
Typically, you'll notice improved sight in 3 to 5 days following the
treatment, and can usually go back to work in 2 to 3 days. Often patients
prefer to be treated on a Thursday or Friday afternoon to minimize time
away from work.

Q. How do I know it's safe?
A.Summit Vision Centers use only the Summit laser, the laser proven to be
safe and effective for the treatment of the great majority of nearsighted
prescriptions. In the U.S. clinical trials' 3 year follow-up, no
sight-threatening complication have occurred. Over 500,000 treatments with
a Summit laser have been performed abroad over the past six years. As
added proof, some of the country's top eye institutes are working with our
Medical Council on an ongoing basis to ensure that the highest standards
of safety are met.

Q. What are the side effects?
A. The Most common side effects are a "halo" effect and some glare at
night around lights. However, these problems are no worse than what most
contact lens and eyeglass wearers often experience.

Q. Will I be in any pain?
A. The treatment itself is painless. Typically, people experience some
discomfort and a "gritty" feeling during the 24 to 48 hours after
treatment. Patients who are treated will be given medications they can use
to control any discomfort they might experience.

Q. Will the treatment be permanent?
A. Given the results of the U.S. clinical trials and the results reported
internationally, the treatment appears to be permanent.

Q. Can I afford the treatment?
A. Eyeglasses usually have to be replaced once a year or so and contact
lenses - depending on the type you use - can be extremely costly,
especially when you add in the cost of solutions. You'll find that laser
correction of nearsightedness can probably pay for itself in a few years'
time. Talk about it with a doctor at a Summit Vision Center during your
FREE evaluation. There's a convenient payment plan to suit your budget. As
a LENS EXPRESS member you can take advantage of special savings and get
$1000.00 OFF the procedure so enroll now
