DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

The Computer Science Department at Rhodes University is
established as a leading post-graduate school of Computer
Science, and has growing undergraduate numbers. A specialist
foundation course for disadvantaged students is also offered.
Applicants will be required to involve themselves at all levels
of teaching and research within the department. Preference will
be given to applicants who have expertise in any of the following
areas of teaching, research and development: distributed
multimedia, networks, virtual reality, graphics, computer based
audio, distributed and parallel processing, telecommunications,
software engineering, and formal modelling.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS

The Department of Information Systems is looking for suitable
people who would like to join a progressive and dynamic academic
department in the university town of Grahamstown. Our vision is
to become a leading centre of excellence in Information
Technology internationally.

The IS Department at Rhodes concentrates on the following areas:
IS Development, IS Management, Audit and Control, HCI, and
technology (Database, 4GLs, CASE, Client-Server, Networking,
etc.). Candidates who have specialised in more than one of these
fields, particularly in those including IS Management and/or
teaching and/or IS related research, will be at an advantage.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Both the Departments of Computer Science and Information Systems
are actively involved in the newly-established Centre of
Excellence in Distributed Multimedia at Rhodes University.
Successful candidates would join a dynamic research group, and
have access to the latest technology.

Applicants should be in possession of a higher degree,
appropriate to their level of application, and have a proven
record of experience in teaching and research. Candidates for the
posts of Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor will be required
to have a successful record of management and/or supervision of
staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
