Capetonian Quintin Gray will give his first solo exhibition in the
Josephine Room at the
Josephine Mill in Newlands from 12 to 16 May. This is also the first
time that a room in
the Josephine Mill will be used as a gallery.
Quintin, who is only 28 years old, has been painting professionally for
five years. He
paints in acrylics and specialises in landscapes, florals and abstract
works and his
paintings are refreshing and contemporary, effectively weaving
impressionist and
expressionist styles from what he sees and feels.
His enjoyment of art began at an early age and he won a national award
at the age of eight.
He studied at the Foundation School of Art and also did a graphic design
course at Hirt &
Carter.
Quintin’s work is exhibited in various Cape Town galleries including The
Hout Bay Gallery,
In fin Art at the Waterfront and Tygervalley, Christies Gallery, Carmel
Art, the Chameleon
Gallery, The Cape Gallery, Gallery de Lyons and Contemporary Art and
Frame. He has also
work in The Hyde Park Gallery in Johannesburg and Code Red Gallery in
Perth, Australia.
The exhibition will be officially opened by Gary van Dyk, Arts
Journalist with the Cape
Argus Tonight, on Wednesday May 12. The Josephine Room can be visited
